How do I clean Sony KP-61XBR300

The mirror rarely needs it---access for it requires removal of entire screen unit------the lens (3) can easily be reached from rear with the back removed---you also at that time can look up to see if mirror is dirty or smudged.

Tip

Projectors that are not cheap POSs don't use glue to hold the mirrors in...

A weakness that you might experience with your projector is the collapsing of the light or mirror tunnel. Not sure if this is common to DLP projectors only. The symptom is that you see grey bands or shadows on the edge of the TV image - this is caused by a mirror getting in the way of the bulb light. The glue holding the mirrors together seems to weaken over time (3000 lamp hours in my case) and causes one or more of the mirrors to loose its position. For solution, search for "mirror tunnel" or "light tunnel" under all projectors. The problem seems to be quite widespread. I managed to fix my LG's.

I wonder why the manufacturers don't use a rectangular glass tube that is mirror plated on the long sides ?!?! Suppose they want to sell new projectors after lamp or mirror tunnel expiry!

MIRROR HOW TO REPLACE

maryannefede,

The mirror in your unit is attached to the inside rear of the projector. If you remove all the screws around the perimeter of the top rear of the unit you should be able to remove the back and see the mirror. The mirror is held in with screws around the perimeter. Cost is about $100.00 US at http://www.encompass.com .

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Broken mirror replacement

You can contact a service center and try to get replacement parts. However, if you've never worked on projectors before, I strongly advise against it. The positioning of the internal components is critical for proper image display and focus. Also, proper positioning of mirrors and lenses is critical for heat dissipation. If this mirror was broken due to impact, there very well might be further damage that you can't see. ---rick

Internal mirror broken

Well without seeing the damage I would have thought Superglue would be your answer and just re afix the mirror if it is indeed undamaged .
Otherwise as it has a working bulb ( usually worth more than the actual machine? ) Maybe a replacement unit off ebay can be obtained you would also have a spare for any other repairs . .... Regards Vortash

Benq 6110 - mounting projector onto ceiling

You need to navigate to the 'advance' menu and under the 'mirror' setting select 'ceiling front' or 'ceiling rear' depending on whether you are front or rear projecting. It should all be on page 29 of the manual.

Hope this helps

Matt.
