Question about John Deere 2010 Tractor Basic Carburetor Repair Kit

1 Answer

I have a 2010 Gas that after it warms up for awhile and while i am using it to mow it starts spitting and sputtering. Shut everything down and let the tractor sit for awhile it starts up and runs for awhile and does it again. Coil points and condensor are new so figure its a fuel problem. Do these carbs have a tendency to choke out or not draw enough fuel. system has a sediment bowl. Need carb kit or diffrent style carb? Should I replace the bowl with a in line filter?

Does the sediment bowl run out of gas? Did you get all of the air out of it when you put it together? And is it still full when it starts running bad? Because if it is, like half full when it dies then it is leaking air probably around the seal. Or it could be sucking air around some of the fuel lines that would make it run bad. Or it could be stopped up in the hose or carb. You should be able to tell when you unhook it from carb. It should run freely.

Used tractor today for three hours and it only acted up once. Sediment bowl is full. Just seems like it chokes up. Am going to change sediment bowl to an inline filter and install new copper fuel lines. Am also going to dump in a can of seafoam carb cleaner. Gas was fresh. Tractor runs at right about 200 deg. when warm according to 45 yr old gauge, but does not do not matter whether warmer or not. Hoping is just a carb that was gummed up according to old owner tractor has not been used much over the last two years. Thanx for the info!!!

No need for diferent carb. Make sure your fuel is fresh, clean. Drain or clean out the sediment bowl. Make sure the engine dies;'t have an overheating problem. You have symtoms of overheating. Good luck Keep the rpms up, don't lug sround in too high of a gear.If it's water cooled with a radiator, ck the coolant level and that the radiator is not obstructed. Chk your fan belt if equiped.

Craftsman riding mower w/ 15.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Engine. Inconsistant starting; starts then shut down. Replaced Carb. then still had same issue when balde was engaged or it was warmed up. Thought...

first check for spark/ no spark, replace coil/ have spark/pull the fuel line off at carb and let flow into gas can, see if it keeps flows then slows/ replace fuel filter OR clean gas tank, it might have a filter in the tank also.
a jumper wire can be used to excite the fuel shut off solenoid on the carburetor if so equipped. also scotch lock can be used to bypass seat and clutch saftey switches for testing/diagnostic troubleshooting purposes.
let me know how you do

Mower runs for 10-15 mins. then shuts off.

Check your gas cap. There must be a vent for the gas to flow joedog
