Possibly the case is not secured properly so as to be binding the selector. If the camera was dropped suspect camera case being misaligned.

My Cannon SD1000 Powershot is stuck on video and will not switch to photo mode.

Could be related to a stuck shutter which is a common problem with this camera. Check that all physical parts are moving and do an unstuck process to free the shutter if this is the issue. See the link for more details:

Camera stuck in 'cannot use in still image mode'

Depending on the model, it sounds as if you are pressing SNAPSHOT or REC while in VIDEO. Make sure your camera has a still mode.

A200 faulty selector switch

Same thing happened mine. Take out battery and leave camera for a few weeks until internal cell goes flat. Switch to "stills" mode and put battery back in. You will need to reset the date and time. LEAVE SWITCH IN "STILLS" mode for ever more.

Stuck in card mode

Hi a small switch ( card or DV) is responsible for this problem. If you can DIY fix the camera with a new flexiboard include the switch and it will work properly

Fuji a345 digital camera will only take video footage, not photos

The three position switch for play, camera, video has likely broken. The plastic switch on the outside has a small contact plate held to the back of the switch on the inside with one small screw. I do have a replacement on hand if you are interested.

Camera-video mode

Is it a switch or a dial? have you tried new batteries?have you removed them and let the camera sit with the batteries out over night? The button or mode switch could be bad.
