Hello,

Remove battery and test on A/C only. If it stays completely dead when switching on then your A/C is broken or your mainboard. Test with another A/C adapter.

If it goes on fine without battery with only being on A/C, then you know your battery is faulty.

Does not switch on but power on light is on

I would remove the battery, power supply, RAM and hard drive. Plug the power supply in and see what happens when the power button is pressed. If nothing, there is a motherboard issue, possibly a GPU error. If it comes to life, re assemble bit by bit until the culprit is found.

Toshiba L655s5065RD wont start , only sign of life is blinking orange light

Okay, what does that light indicate? (hard drive activity, power plugged in, battery, etc). It most likely indicates a faulty power supply or damaged battery unit.

Laptop is turned off but the lights are still on

Can you describe the symbols that are next to the lights that are still lit?
If your laptop is still attached to mains power (ie your power pack that feeds DC voltage to your laptop) the battery pack may be still charging (indicated by a light) The battery pack is internal to your laptop and this powers your laptop when the power pack is not connected to mains.
Try disconnecting your mains power and see if a light goes off. If it does then that light is the light which indicates charging is in progress.
Other lights that are typical to laptops are:
a. hard drive activity (usually lights when the hard drive is being used) Usually has an adjacent symbol which looks like a metal can or cylinder.
b. bluetooth (wireless connection to other bluetooth devices such as cell phones, other bluetooth devices such as another computer) Adjacent symbol looks like two triangles side by side.
c. sleep (usually lit when your laptop goes to sleep and saving power) This may be covered by the power on lamp mentioned below, and the power light may flash to indicate the laptop is in sleep mode to save battery power.
d. power on (lights when your laptop is ON)
e. battery charging (as described above). There is often a symbol adjacent to this light that looks like a small battery.
Good luck,
Steve (Melb, Australia)

Red Flashing Icon

The icons from the left: 1. Power indocator 2. Hard Disk indicator --> it is a tube icon, not battery, but means hard drive. 3. Power Source indicator 4. Bluetooth indicator
The third from left means the power source indicator. Normally it is light green. If there is battery problem (can not charge or battery overload) it flashes amber/orange. If flashes red, it indicates that the battery power is low. You need to change the battery or connect the AC adapter.

Flashing device status light

Ok the lightning bolt is your power indicator: solid green-charging, Flashing green-fully charged, flashing red-low battery, flashing red three times the once green-bad battery. the "trash can" looking one is your hard drive activity indicator it will flash while your hard drive is reading and writing.

My asus d1500t wont startup

Most likelly your motherboard went bad, but you can try somthing else before replacing your MB.
1. Remove your battery and try to power up. Your battery might be shorted.
2. Remove your hard drive and try to power up.
3. Remove your CDROM and try to power up.

Good luck.
