If you checked the fuses..and they are OK ..check the wires..for damages or loose contact ..I'm referring to the power supplying ones... Check for voltage at the entry in the player ...this is the fastest way to see if it is an issue with the power ..if it has a plug ..just unplug and use a light ball to see if it has any power at the side that comes from the battery ..if it is dead ..than either rewire..or follow the line to see the point of break ..if it was any other thing it should at least power to stand by or blink ...

Sounds like it might be jammed. You need to get it flipped over, is it stuck? You may need to take the unit out to fix the problem.

Need to get the security code for Kenwood KDC-608OR

ok I just found this info online and they say it came from the service manual for that stereo so I hope it helps:

You will need a Kenwood RC-410 remote control. This remote works on KDC-519, KDC-X859, KDC-319, KDC-4019, KDC-MP919, KDC-X759, KDC-419, KDC-X459, KDC-MPV619, KDC-MPV7019, KDC-2022, KDC-2022V, KRC-435, KRC-535 and KDC-X959

To reset the code do the following:

1) Turn on the car.
2) The faceplate rotates out and the CODE - - - - prompt appears.
3) Press >>' and Auto keys simultaneously on the faceplate and hold for 4 seconds. (If the faceplate rotates back into the console push on the upper left top edge of the faceplate and it will flip back around. Press the Eject button and then try it again.)
4) The screen will still say CODE, but the - - - - will disappear! When this happens press the 5 key on the remote twice and it enters a K on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
5) Press the 2 key on the remote three times and it enters a C on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
6) Press the 2 key on the remote once and it enters an A on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
7) Press the 7 key on the remote twice and it enters an R on the display on the faceplate. Hit the >>' key on the faceplate.
8) The radio goes into All Off mode and you are set! Hit the SRC button on the faceplate to select CD, Radio, etc.

The deck gets power but wont function. When its on, the faceplate rolls over & then it freezes.

there is a flexible cable that goes from the face to the main motherboard. the cable is most likely bad and needs to be replaced.

With the amount of use in four years I will say you definatly got your moneies worth from it.  From the way it sounds, there is a small paper thin ribbon cable that connects from the main body of the radio to the head unit itself.  With the amount of times this thing has been used the ribbon cable sounds like it has finally gone bad.  The best way for me to have you demonstrate this is to take a piece of paper and with a razor cut a **** in the middle of it and then folt the paper in the same direction as the ****.  When the cable is flat the wires in the cable make connection and when the cable is bent there is no connection to certain areas of the cable.

it needs a new ribbon cable. Some car audio repair shops stock these (mine does). Part is about $20-30. Labor will depend on the shop.

You probably have a break in the flexible ribbon cable that goes between the flip face and the mother board. Try partstore.com for a replacement cable.
