Lenova G570 laptop the touch pad will not work

There is usually either a button someplace for the keypad or it is disabled via use the Fn key. Look at your F keys (i.e. F1 , F2, F3) one of them should look like a mouse icon.. press that and see if the touchpad works again.. If not you may need to press and hold the Fn key (Botton left on most laptop keyboards) while pressing the button with the mouse icon on it.

How to unlock a mouse on a laptop

On the top of your keyboard there should be F keys like F1,F2 etc.
Every F key has a little picture. When you see a touchpad picture press Fn+F5. According to my Laptop. For example if your touchpad picture is at F6 then you would press Fn+F6.The Fn key should be located near the ctrl keys. If this does not work then try the following steps:-

1 Click the Windows "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of your desktop. Scroll up and click "Control Panel."

2 Choose the "Mouse" icon or type "Mouse" in the field in the upper-right corner. Click the "Enter" button and then click the "Mouse" link.

3 Press the "Hardware" tab or the tab to the right of it that specifies the type of touch pad you have. If you are under the "Hardware" tab, highlight the touch pad in the list of devices and click the "Enable" button. If you are under the touch pad tab, click the enable button.

4 Click the "Apply" button and then click the "OK" button.

How can I disable the trackpad to only use an external mouse? Toshiba laptop (Satellite)

For most Toshiba laptops, you should be able to hit FN+F9, and it will disable the touch pad. If that doesn't work, go to your Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Mouse, and disable it there. Hope this helps!

How do I turn off the touch pad on my Acer Aspire 5742 laptop

Hello,

Thank you for using fixya. My name is Carlo.

There are two ways that you can do to turn off/on the touch pad in your acer aspire.

1. Press FN + F7. It will turn off the touchpad and will turn on once you press the same buttons again.

2. If the buttons do not work. You can do this:

1. Go to control panel>hardware and devices>Devices and Printers>Mouse
2. CLick on the last setting on the right.
3. Click on Disable in the Mouse Properties.
5. Click OK.

Just go to the same area when you want to enable your touchpad again.

I hope this helps.

How to turn off mouse on laptop when using wireless mouse

Now depending on the model of your laptop, the procedure may defer. I will just show you the various basic ways available with most laptops.
1. Look around your touch pad (especially the area between it and the keypad). Some laptops have a button here that turns the touch pad (laptop mouse) on and off. If you see one just press it.
2. If you do not see this button. Then check your fn keys (They are usually labeled in a different colour, e.g. blue). Usually they are on the normal function keys. Look for the one that resemble a mouse figure. If you see it, you need to press it in combination with the Fn key; press the Fn key first. (The Fn key is usually near the Ctrl key). This will turn on and off your touch pad (laptop mouse).

Acer Vista Laptop and cursor nightmare!!

Hi -
I've been having the same problem and it is MAJORLY annoying to be typing along, and have the cursor reappear on another line!

I had a heck of a time finding the place to disable the touchpad, since we use a USB mouse with the laptop. Turns out, someone else helped me find a simple way - hold down the Fn key (next to the left side CNTRL key), and hit F7. That toggles the touchpad off/on easily!

Also suggested by someone else, some mice can cause erratice behavior with Acer laptops, so perhaps try another mouse?

So far, I've been typing this response AFTER disabling the touchpad, and the cursor has not jumped around at all.

Good luck! : )
