I have a Frigidaire window A/C unit ( #FAC105P1A) which is about four years old. Recently when I use it the air blows out stinks. Is there an easy fix for this? Do I need to call a repair man?

Hi, This is a common issue which is noticed with Window A/C over a period of time.To help in cooling the modern units hold water which the rear fan picks up to splash on the hot condensing coils. But that means that water can get stale over the winter and grow mold or algae. Some have a plug that can be removed and should have been removed over the winter to let it drain better. Now would be a good time to use a hose on the rear coils to clean them and that would also help clean out that rear pan. Spray some cleaner on the coils when washing. In theory window units are supposed to be removed in the winter and stored but many people leave them in. But leaving them in, particularly without a cover over them can let them get smelly. If you?ve noticed a musty smell coming from your window air conditioner it?s probably because of dust, dirt, and moisture causing mold and mildew to form in the drip tray. Remove the drip tray from beneath the unit, and wash it in warm soapy water. Remember to clean the drip tray at least once a year to avoid future problems with dirt, dust, and excess moisture that can create odor-causing bacteria."

Why does my unit beep and turn on by itself with a 0.5 in the led

Sounds like it is made to react to humidity as well as temperature. Check to see if there is a setting for that, or perhaps it is supposed to come on to protect itself from moisture. Do you notice ice cold air coming out when it does that, or is it just regular ''air''. If just regular ''air'', and if it does also blow _cold_ when working at the temp you set it at, then I am probably right about humidity... which means this is normal.

Good Morning Friend,

I understand you want to replace the compressor capacitor on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAC105P1A. Typically, this is not a do it yourself repair, as there are no step by step manuals. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They have been trained on your particular appliance and should be able to replace the compressor capacitor with ease. Hope this is helpful.

Why is my ac window unit not cooling as well as it use to? .

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAC105P1A, is not cooling as well as it used to. Please try cleaning the air filter as well as the cabinet.

Air Filter Cleaning:

The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is necessary. Trapped particles in the filter can build up and cause an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.

• Push the vent handle to the Vent Closed position (where applicable).
• Open the front panel.
• Grasp the filter by the center and pull up and out.
• Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly dry before replacing.
• Or, instead of washing you may vacuum the filter clean.

Cabinet Cleaning:

• Be sure to unplug the air conditioner to prevent shock or fire hazard. The cabinet and front may be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.
• Never use harsh cleaners, wax or polish on the cabinet front.
• Be sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around the controls. Excess water in or around the controls may cause damage to the air conditioner.
• Plug in air conditioner.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

I have a frigidaire fac105p1a that is spiting water out though the vents what do i do about that?

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that you have water spitting out of the top vent on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAC105P1A. I also see that it sounds like water is gurgling through the pipes and you want to know how to fix it. If your air conditioner is also leaking outside, this is normal during excessively humid days, due to it removing large quantities of moisture from a humid room. If it is also dripping inside, I suggest slightly tilting your air conditioner to the outside, to allow water drainage. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your air conditioner status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

Easy fix. reposition the unit to where is tilts slightly downwards in the rear so that the water will flow out the back instead of inside. NEVER drill any holes in a window unit.

possible that your evap. coil is dirty and since the air flow is restricted because of the dirt the unit over amps. Once it starts to pull more amps than required the plug trips. Also the plug itself could be going bad which has happened to me before. Good Luck
