Sony HS30 Convergance Issue

I need some specific information please.

1. Exactly where are the STK's located on the board chassis?
2. Where do I buy replacements?
3. Will the whole board chassis have to be removed to replace them?
4. If the resistors are bad, how many, exactly normally goes bad?

Thank you,
John

    Thank you very much...

    That was a big help.

After looking at the resistors, I can not find any that look bad. I think I should be looking at the 1/4 watt ones. There are also some, like, 1 watt ones. They look ok as well.

Have not taken the D board out yet.

How should I approach this resistor issue? Should I order a couple just to be safe. Or just order the STK's or what do you think exactly?

    Thank you so much,

    John

The STK ICs are located on the D board their locations are IC801 and IC 802 they are both STK392-560 and you will only have to remove the D board. Usually only 1 or 2 resistors go bad right next to the ICs heatsink. You can get replacements at the following link and they include installation instruction plus free tech support heres the link.

Your model usually will be fine if the resistors are not discolored . I would suggest ordering the new ICs . You can also to be safe order a couple of convergence resistors also as they are all the same price and they confirm your order they will let you know the resistors that are in your model and request you to select which ones you want them to ship. You can also email them before placing your order and they will tell you which ones are in the covergence circuits for your model.

I have a sony projection tv model #KP51WS510 and I was told the convergance amplifier was going out and I was needing info about where it is located so I can change it out. Thanks

convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Blinking green light of death on Mit WS55513. Changed the four 1000uf (35) capacitors on the DM board and it still won't work. Nothing has changed. Any help? Thankyou, sundayman1@msn.com

THEY are green and look like 1/2 watt resistor but will have amperage marked on them and the board--there at least 2 of them near the caps--if you need a photo of what they look like etower.766@netzero.net---Convergence chips will not cause the set to not boot up (the green light blinks and does not stop)

I do this here for free so if this information was helpful give me a vote here--good luck---if you cannot fix the receiver the only choice is to contact PTS electronics--you can ship it to them for repair/rebuild---part no longer is available from MITSUBISHI.

I need a convergance chip but don't know where to get it

I learned today on my Mitsubishi VS-60621 (chassis VZ4) there are 3 convergence ICs (3, not just one as previously suggested), all 3 are STK391-020 located underneath the large heat sink on the upper right (as viewed from back of set), above the large PCB with the 6"x10" cover in the middle. The 3 chips are hanging upside down from their heat sink, have aluminum covers over them (so well hidden, it took me hours to find them, not knowing where to look), and the whole heat sink & chip assembly comes out by removing 2 screws, the front one must be accessed by removing the large lower front plastic cover and fiber-board piece behind it. Not necessary to remove the smaller plastic cover and control box above the big one. The big plastic cover has 2 large tabs on the bottom straddling the center post that will still hold it on once the screws are removed, gently pull down on them to release it. Not necessary to remove the glass doors, but probably safer to do so. Good luck!

You didnt replace the STK's? You must replace the convergance IC's or you will continue to have this problem.

Convergance chip

Thats the regulator chip for the convergence circuits thats the one youre most likely needing, as your chassis doesnt have convergence ICs. You can get that IC at the following link and they will provide free installation instructions and free on line tech support just in case you need assistance. Here is the link.

the manual is almost impossible to find. But that chassis usually only has 1 IC that powers the convergence. Usually a STK730-020 or simallar. post the number off the IC you see up front and I will cross reference it for you and post a link where you can get a replacement
