Question about Dell Dimension 4400 PC Desktop
My daughter has been having a problem with her pc. It has been freezing up and she can't use mouse or keyboard the light on pc stays solid and when she shuts it off with the button and turns it back on it will either do the same or it will go to a black screen with a cursor in the left corner....what can be causing this problem? It won't even boot from cd.
This problem sounds like a HDD failure. If you have access to another computer you could try and slave her drive on that computer and run a check disk on her drive.
Whne you slave the drive make sure the jumpers are set you will see a diagram of the setting on the front of the drive on the sticker.
To run a check disk go to:-
Click on run ---> cmd ----> chkdsk
if there is a problem you could try chkdsk/f
Hope this helps.
