Question about Boating
I have a 97 Suntracker pontoon with 90hp mercury motor. The motor trim switch went bad last summer causing motor to come out of the water by itself. I fixed the switch and now I have no power to the right side of console. (ignition switch and trim switch. I know the trim switch fix worked because I jumped power to the toggle switch from the fuse box. However I am not getting power to the ignition switch or the trim toggle. Everthing else seems to be working properly. My question is can I direct wire the ignition switch and trim toggle from the battery?

If everything is turning on, and there's power... check for 12V at the alternator. it may be out now.... or a connector came loose, or wire broke.

Sounds like motor is bad. See if you can find the 2 main wire leads on the motor and hook up directly to see if you can get it to work.

it may be your neutral safety switch. Try it again but this time turn the key with one hand and wiggle the throttle/shifter lever at the same time. My 25 johnson does this, but usually I can wiggle the shifter and she'll turn over. Hope this helps.

find the solenoid for the trim it will be a the engine or on the trim motor it self get a test lite and find the power wire on the trim motor and with someone pushing the trim button test the hot on the motor if there is no power it is the solenoid if there is power u my have a brush stuck in the trim motor itself but 99% of the time it is the solenoid u can tap the trim motor and see if that gets a result but dont hit hard
