Question about Samsung SCHU960 Cell Phone

1 Answer

The touchscreen went out on my samsung SCHU960(Rogue). Verizon is sending me a new phone but I want to erase my data before sending it back. Is there any way I can do it without going through the phone`s menu? I can get the system restore via the voice command but I have no way to confirm the restore because the touchscreen doesnt work. Please help... BTW, I tried the reset code (*27-673-855#) but nothing happened

I had the same problem. I was able to gain temporary use of my touchscreen by placing a piece of tape (folded to make a handle) on the dark spot on my screen. This is where the layers were stuck together. I rebooted the phone while gently pulling on the tape handle to separate the layers. I was able to navigate to the restore screen and hit the yes button. There were points when it stopped responding. All I had to do was gently pull on the tape handle again to get the screen to respond again. I'm sure you have already solved your problem, but hopefully, this will help someone else.

This was very helpful. Using this idea, I simply peeled the screen of the touch screen back just a bit (~3mm) with my fingernail on 1 side and then it worked again. No reset needed. Pushed the screen back down - good as new.

Resetting the phone will delete all data in it including your downloaded applications, and will resets the phone back to its initial state.

Press Home > Menu, then tap Settings > Security > Factory data reset.

On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone and then tap Erase everything. To reset the phone using phone buttons, with the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down + Send + End buttons. The reset process will start after a few seconds.

I have a Samsung Rogue that I got about 4 months ago. Recently, it has been acting weird. It shuts off randomly, and sometimes doesn't send or receive text messages. I have also had a few incidents...

Verizon has discontinued the Rogue. I loved it, at first, and I have grown to dislike it. It has lots of issues with sync-ing - blue tooth & USB connections. I have had trouble with mine charging from time to time as well. I had to have it replaced the first month I had it because touch screen stopped working. What I have found through trial & error - the best thing to do is to turn it off, slide off the back, remove battery for a few minutes and then put it back in (kind of like a control alt delete on a computer) - if it freezes up on you - try that. The other thing I was just told by a rep last week @ store is to charge it from wall, when possible, not through car charger or plugging it into usb on a computer(computer doesnt recognize it anyway - so that is really the only purpose of the USB port built into the charger) - I believe the Omnia is the replacement version that Verizon is offering in place of the Rogue. I think there is a strong argument to make with Verizon that they should HAVE TO replace your phone at NO COST because the Rogue is discontinued & the sold you a phone with KNOWN compatibility issues with Windows 7. - Whatever phone they do give you - they can sync the information onto the other phone without even looking at it & can delete all your personal information off of the Rogue. I watched them do it when they replaced my Rogue & she didnt even see the information that was transferred - so if its privacy concerns - you do not need to worry. I would love to hear how you make out - as I am fairly irritated with the USB/photo/non compatibility issue & intend to make the same argument in the very near future.

Touchscreen not working

do a hard reset first; when your phone is on, pop out the battery, and put it back again and start phone. check if problem is fixed. If not fixed, use this code *2767*3588#, note that this may erase all your data so if you can backup, then do. If problem still there, then it is hardware. take unit for servicing. you may have to replace either the touch screen or flex cable buts needs to open unit first and confirm.9look out for water damage e.t.c)
