Dishes not getting clean

We are still having trouble getting dishes clean. All the food does not seem to rinse off and they all have a heavy residue.
We've tried a number of solutions:
1) we've reduce the soap dramatically
2) we've tried different types/brands of soap
3) the water is getting hot
4) the arms appear to spin
5) there is nothing clogging anything

this has been going on for a couple of months.

You have to evestigate if the motor that recycle the water has the right spins in order to have the right pressure on dishes so the water to clean them (if it has problem with the coil of motor or with with the bearing of suction pump spins lower ) . You can hear if the lever arms of water spin with power .

Are dishes too greasy!
Check incoming water for free flow
Add correct quantity of soap as per manual. Use dish washer friendly soap. Fill rinse aid liquid in the dispenser meant for it.

Select a different cycle programe and give a try.

Please help! I just moved into a new house where the Frigidaire dishwasher worked great for 2 weeks. Now, it's leaving hard salt-like granules all over my dishes and not rinsing all the food off. ...

Your dishwasher has clogged water ports.
Start the dishwasher with NO dishes in it.
Once it starts the wash cycle, open the door and pour in 1 quart of WHITE vinegar and resume the wash cycle.
That should clear out the residue.
Change your dishwasher soap to the FINISH brand name for happy clean dishes.

My amana softsound III Model DWA63AL doesn't seem to get dishes clean. I have cleaned filters and everthing seems to operate ok. Water temp good. any advice?

Many people are having trouble with poor performance due to recent EPA changes required in dish washing detergent.
If it makes as much water splashing noise as it used to but it still leaves residue and undissolved food behind...then it's probably the detergent. That's what does the work.

Why are dishes not getting the soap rinsed off efficiently? Heavy soap residue remains even with rinse treatment.

Many possible causes.
My list to trouble-shoot this would be:
  1. Rinse dishes less before loading--the dirt on the dishes is what the detergent acts upon.
  2. Is your rinse-aid dispenser putting out enough?
  3. Use a little bit less detergent.
  4. Check the little nozzles in your spray arms. Maybe they have become blocked. (Sesame seeds are the sort of thing that cause headaches here.)
  5. Check drain lines and filters.
  6. Do you have hard water? Maybe your machine would work better with a water softener--whether built into the machine, or on the supply lines for the house.

My best advise is to reduce the amount of detergent to the least amount that you can use, and still get the dishes clean. We do rinse the dishes a bit, as the soft food disposer isn't made to act like a garbage disposer, but rather, to catch incidental food residues. We no longer fill the closed detergent dispenser. We sprinkle about 1/2 of the normal amount (that goes in the open cup) on the inside door and close it up. Our dishes get very clean, with no residue. Also, use a good drying agent as this will help sheet the water off of the dishes. It may take several cycles to see improvements, but you should see improvements nonetheless.

Food particles left on dishes

Many times this caused by food particles clogging the screen or blocking the jets on the spray arms. Find the screen in the bottom of your machine and clean it out. If this doesnt help, remove the spray arms and clean them out.
