Question about Homelite Leaf Vac Attack

1 Answer

Homelite Vac Attack II blower, won`t start

Before blower completly quit running when pumping primer bulb gas would run out carb and run rough. Then would not start . Upon pouring small amount of gas into carb blower would start briefly and then stall out. Replaced fuel, fuel lines, cleaned spark plug. Checked primer bulb for cracks. I have tried to stay away from this Ethanol gas as much as possible.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to Fixya.com.

It seems you need to check the composition of the oil first.

One quarter fuel: three fourth ounces of oil = 1 Gallon fuel:3 ounces of oil or slightly less than 43:1. Not what a current manual recommends. If properly adjusted your blower will operate fine on 50:1 .Might find it varying from manuals but that’s fine.

Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

The little pump for gas does not wok

The primer does not necessarily need to work for the unit to run. It does have a choke to aid cold starts. However it is a good indication of something wrong in the fuel system. A primer bulb that does not return to shape or does so slowly indicates a clogged screen in the carb. Check the fuel filter and fuel lines. Replace the fuel lines if they are stiff or discolored, rebuild the carb and replace primer bulb.

Sounds like the idle jet in the carb is plugged up.

It only stays running from the primer load, then dies when that is used up, as the gas can not get from the float bowl through the idle jet.

Did you store it for a while with the gas still in it?

If so, what happens is the gas starts to go bad, and over time it can get almost like a varnish.

When this happens, it starts plugging up the small ports in the carb, starting with the smallest, which is the idle jet.

Before storing for any length of time, your best bet is to drain the gas and run the float bowl dry.
If not that, at least add some fuel stabilizer to the gas left in it, and run it for about 5 minutes with the stabilizer in the fuel.

Pump bulb on craftsman weed blower and no gas pumps into the bulb

If you slacken the screws fuel will leak as you have broken the seal between the carb body and the primer bulb so this is quite normal, behind the bulb is a plate with a red non return valve, if this valve is faulty it will not pump fuel, or if the filter in the tank is part blocked it will not pump fuel

Hi i have a homelite chain saw csp 3314 and is not been use for tow years ,i try to start but refuses to ,it has a good spark ,i don't know why is not starting?? any help i will apresiete.

Most often this is because the gas has "soured" - it breaks down into a varnish compound, which is easily recognized by a foul smell in the gas tank that does not smell like gas.

You need to drain all the old gas. Pull the spark plug (clean it also- using a new plug is even better!), pump the primer bulb, and then pull the cord twenty times or so with no plug in the engine to try and purge all the old fuel. Get as much as possible out of the fuel system- the primer bulb should only have a drop or two at most in it.

Next, put in fresh gas along with a little carb cleaner- mix a gallon of gas with half an ounce of carb cleaner, plus whatever amount of two stroke oil you normally mix per gallon. Put the plug back in. Press the primer bulb 3 times, set the choke, and try to start. Make sure that you can see fuel in the primer bulb.

Your chainsaw will probably fire on the first or second pull, but not run (if it does start and run, GREAT!) On the third pull, most often it will start....if not....

Pump the primer three more times, and try the starting procedure again, and hopefully it will start, possibly running rough for the first minute.

If you still cannot get it started, pull the plug, clean and dry it, and try again... it is best at this point if you have a brand new plug to use it instead.

If your saw will still not start and run steady, you probably have a "varnished carb" - buildup from the gas souring has clogged the needle valve/orifice, and the float may be stuck. You will need to service the carb.

Good Luck, and Thank You for using FixYa!

The main suction jet in your carb. is blocked.Remove the bowl and push a thin needle up the centre jet in the carb and blow the jet out with compressed air. Stephen.

Ryobi gas

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. also check the primer bulb for pin holes and proper seating/seal. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.
