Try to upgrade the firmware by connecting your printer by USB onto your computer and then Home Center>Help>look for some option like Firmware Upgrade

If again grinding noise then call their tech support and say the printer is making VERY HIGH grinding noise and they might replace your printer

Why will printer not pull paper and makes clicking sound?

Did you have a paper jam before the noise started, if so there may still be some paper stuck in there or you make have a brocken tooth on one of your drive gears.

there is a rest of the paper jamed still inside the printer you need to remove all the jamed paper then it will work, to find out where the paper stuck's open the front and rear cover, maby you have to remove the toner cardriges as well.

I have a brother DCP-135C with a printer jam. I followed the instructions in the user guide and believe I have removed all the paper but still get the paper jam message. When I unplug then plug it back in...

for this model, normally the paper is stuck behind., you can open the rear part of the printer and check if there is any paper stuck there.
lift up the scanner unit and switch on the printer, does the sound come from the print head side, it could be due to the print head getting stuck... the encoder belt might be damaged...

Ricoh CL 7100 fuser jam.

The grinding noise is the clashing of gears. The fuser is composed of 2 rollers, a metal or ceramic with a heater inside (bulb) and a silicon roller to apply pressure. The 'hot' roller is geared and the silicon roller can be geared or free floating. There is at least 1 paper sensor in the the fuser to let the unit know whether paper is there and there when it should or should not be. Sometimes, the sensor gets slightly dislodged and can actually cause a jam. If you are hearing a gear clash, the paper is being pushed through the machine and instead of being pushed through the fuser, it stops because the fuser rollers are not turning. The rest of the machine keeps pushing, crinkling the paper.
If there is crinkling, then gears that drive the fuser need to be checked. It is this gear cluster and/or the fuser that need to be replaced.

Grinding noise at startup paper jam indication (alarm flashes 3 times) no paper stuck in printer sounds like plastic gear is not meshing grinding sound occurs twice during powerup

definitely sounds like the drive gears are stripped, did it jam and someone pull paper out by hand this is major cause of stripped gears. generally fixing is not cost effective cheaper to buy new

Paper feed

Hi there.
First of all pull out the paper jam cover - is behind the printer with a clock-like handle. Pull it out and check for any paper or other objects. If U dont see anything try to manualy rotate the black rubber rollers and check for that noise. Locate it and try to describe what you see.

There is a latch at the back of your printer that opens so you can remove paper jams from the back. You can start there and then slowly peel away the rest of the paper that jammed...

Paper will not feed

These are basically throw away printers. But you might try checking the paper path. There are small plastic "arms" that guide the paper as its picked up and goes throught he printer. Sometimes one of these may get stuck in a position that makes the printer think there is paper in the path somewhere.
