Wiring multipal voice coils

I have two 10" audiobahn and they have four voice coils per speaker. I would like to wire them to 4 ohm not tied together, just per speaker.

Actually we need more info the first response is correct if you have a specific rated type sub (ohm rating) , if the subs are dual 4 ohm then you would wire it black to amp from 1 coil red from the other coil to am and use a jumper wire between the 2 coils for a sigle 4 ohm load at the amp if you do that with both speakers the amp will see 2 ohms

U take the woofer and look for the Red/white dot on the possitive and run one sinle wire to the soild black nob and then on the rest of them hook them to the amp the soild red nob to the possitive to the amp and the black and white dot nob to the negitive on the amp hopes this help if it does rate me

There are a couple different ways you can wire up this speaker as it is a DVC speaker. Duel Voice coil, it has two + post and two - post. A dual 4-ohm voice coil subwoofer with its coils wired in parallel presents a 2-ohm load to your amplifier. Since an amplifier produces more wattage at a lower impedance, the parallel connection ensures you'll get the most output from your amp.
Series wiring lets you configure multiple woofers to one amplifier at an acceptable impedance. Wire both coils in series for an 8-ohm impedance, and then wire two 8-ohm subs together in parallel for 4-ohm total impedance.
You can wire each voice coil to a separate channel of your amplifier, if you prefer not to bridge your amp. Independent wiring is a nice option if you're wiring two DVC subs to a 4-channel amplifier - one voice coil per channel
Depending on what you are hooking it up to i.e. a mono amp or a bridged four channel amp. I can tell you post to wire exactly if I know how you want to hook it up and what ur hooking it up to.

OK what you are saying now is that your speakers are dual voice coil; models? 4 Ohms per Coil? I have always used single 4 Ohm Voice ciol speakers since amps are mostly based on 4 Ohm outputs. but you can get 8 Ohm dual voice coil subs also. With 8 Ohms per coil you can get 4 Ohms if you parallel the wires. What is best for you and will get you the most stable power and still will be in the specs of that amp is to run the amp in BRIDGED MODE running each subs voice coils in series with each other then run those 2 subs in parallel to the amplifier giving it a 4 Ohm load. So, your will have two sets of wires from your amp 1 for each speaker. Then you will take a short piece of wire that will connect the + to the - of each voice coil then hook up the wires from your amp to each sub What it will be is 4 Ohms + 4 Ohms = 8 Ohms per speaker the 8 Ohms in parallel each speaker to the Bridged amp output using just the + from one channel and the - from the other will give you a total of 4 ohms and power out put of 600 Watts so that ends up being 150 watts per voice coil or 300 watts each speaker

I have two audiobahn aw1500 15" subowoofers and i was trying to figure out how to wire them so that they come to 2 ohms. I have a Kicker 400.1 amp that is 2 ohm stable.


What is their ohms at the moment. If they are 8 ohms the will become 4o hms in parallel, 4 ohms will become 2 ohms in parallel. Since your audiobahns are dual four ohms coils one speaker wired in parallel gives you 2 ohms and both wired together in parallel will give you 1 ohms. You will need to wire them in series parallel to to keep two ohms and that is a waste of power. Kickers are good amps, with a little extra cooling the amp should sustain the 1 ohm capability of your parallel connection or trade in for a 1ohm stable amp

I have a pioneergm-d8500m amp and it stopped working and the green led just flashes.. i bought a new amp to replace it and it just does the same thing.. what is going on to cause this


crossed speaker wires or loose strands creating a short circuit, improper speaker ohmage or a blown speaker.

verify that you dont have any positive strands coming in contact with negative strands/terminals, the amp case, the speaker frame, or any metal part of the car chassis.

verify that you only have a 2 ohm load connected to the amp. most car speakers are 4 ohm (siginfied by the greek letter "omega" on the back of the spoeaker magnet, or in the speaker specifications), but some are 2 ohm and/or 2 ohm x2 voice coils per speaker. 2x2 ohm coils/speakers would produce a 1 ohm load, which would cause the amp to overload, and go into "protect" mode. to achieve a safe load, you need to use 1x4 ohm speaker, 2x4 ohm speakers or a dual voice coil speaker with 4 ohms per coil x2 voice coils, wired in parallel.

you can also achieve 2 ohms with 2 speakers with 2x2 ohm voice coils apiece (that is, 2 speakers, each with 2 ohm voice coils apiece, 2 speakers with 4 voice coils altogether of 2 ohms apiece) by wiring the two coils per speaker in SERIES, and then wiring the two speakers circuits in PARALLEL. wiring the coils in series means connecting the positive lead of one coil to the amp positive, then connecting the same coils negative to the positive of the second coil, and finally connecting the negative from the second coil back to the amp negative terminal. if you wire both dual voice coil speakers in series, and then connect both series circuits back to the amps positive/engative, than you have the coils in series, and the speakers in parallel- achieving an overall 2 ohm load from 4 total voice coils between 2 speakers.

How do you wire a AW1000V to 1 amplifier?


The easiest way to wire this would be to make sure you have a 2 ohm amp, wire both voice coils in parallel to the amp. This means to connect both + terminals on the speaker to the + speaker output on the amp, then wire both - terminals on the speaker to the - speaker terminal on the amp. With the voice coils in parallel like this it makes it into a 2 ohm load at the amplifier. If you are running for example a 1000 watt amp at 2 ohms into this speaker it would give each voice coil the equivalent of 500 watts of power at 4 ohms. The other way would be to run the voice coils in series (voice coil 1 - terminal to - speaker terminal on the amp, voice coil 1 + terminal to the voice coil 2- terminal, voice coil 2 + terminal to the +speaker terminal on the amp.) The series wiring would give you a 8ohm speaker load to your amp so you would need a 8 ohm amp.

depends on how you're hooking them up to the amp, and what type of amp it is you are using. but to wire them parallel, and drop the ohm rating, assuming it's a dual voice coil sub, you wire - to + on the sub, then - to the - on the amp, and + to + on the amp. Here's a diagram:ae0c628.jpg

I have 15" audiobahn subs, but I need the right wiring


Contact company the can send you diagrams or go to a stero stop they should be able to help because some shop have wire diagrams for best way to get the most thump in you r trunk.Make sure you know the ohms your subs is 1-2-4 ohms.Should say on the back of your sub and how many contacts are on in two or four.

If the subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils and if your amp is good down to 1 ohm, your best bet is:
  1. Connect the voice coils in parallel ("+"s together, "-"s together). This will make the impedance of each sub 2 ohms.
  2. Connect the subs in parallel.
  3. Bridge the amp to one channel.
This should max the amp out at 2400W, which means about 1200W per sub.

If your subs are single 4 ohm voice coils, do the same steps, but you'll only be able to load the amp to 2 ohms, which means about 600W per sub.

Also keep in mind that box size, type, and quality make a big difference in how subs sound.

Yes, wire the Voice coils in series. This will give you at least 4 ohms.
Amp+ to VC1+
VC1- to VC2+
VC2- to Amp-
