Question about Intermatic & Indoor/Outdoor Rain Tight Timer

Open Question

I have an Intermatic Timer, Model R8806P101C for my irrigation system. I just replaced the timer itself because I could not get it to come on Automatically just Manually. I am still having this problem even after replacing the box. Can you tell me what the problem is?

SOURCE: Intermatic pool pump timer, time clock won't turn

Check your wiring, it sounds like it's not right. The clock needs 120 volts to run.

SOURCE: I have an Intermatic ET70115C

ET7015C manual:
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/et70115c%20-%20english.ashx

This particular timer allows Holiday settings that override regular settings.
Do a word search of the PDF manual for 'holiday' and 'HLDY' and it takes you to the pages that talk about holiday. For example page 8 talks about the Holiday (HLDY) feature

My strategy is to replace the out-of-sync fall-back and spring-forward days with holidays ... and then the holidays can be programmed to meet the correct buzzer time.

Now let me say something. I am not an expert on this particular timer. I wire and test timers, but I do not own this timer. And the manual is a pretty good slog of information. I have not read the whole manual, but you can add a comment and I am here to assist as you go along. I answer questions for free and am glad to help.

The image on Fixya is too small to see the buttons clearly, but the timer lets you program up to 99 Holidays.
Fall-back is off by 14 days, and Spring-forward is off by 14 days, for a total of 28 days.
The manual says 'review and revise data' on page 12 thru 17

Sounds like clock motor(s) are working.
Snap mechanism out using thumb spring located inside top of box.
Look for clock motor number printed on clock, should be WG1573 for 240V timer

Google search for 'Intermatic WG1573'
For example Grainger sells that clock motor as 1PNK2
(plus they sell extra trippers which are designed to wear down):

I don't know if this is going to be of any use to you but Retrevo have a manual to down load at http://www.retrevo.com/support/Intermatic-R8806P101C-manual/id/22966bh130/t/2/

Other suggestions are to remove the synchronous motor and check/replace that. It is the motor that drives the clock and can be ordered through irrigation outlets.

Hook up the system works when on but timer does not move there fore it will not come on or shut off automatic

If the yellow dial is not keeping time first check to see if the motor is wired correctly. If yellow dial is keeping time make sure you have the pins inserted correctly. see the parts list here.

How to replace the R8806P101C timer?

Open following links for parts and manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-trippers-and-parts.html#sprinkler
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/r8806p101c-instruction-manual.pdf

1) You can buy replacement parts and fix old timer using part numbers shown on link above.
R8806P is 240Volt timer

2) If you buy new timer, insides of timer can be replaced without changing the box.
Snap out old timer mechanism using thumb spring located top inside timer.

3) When replacing wiring, take photo of wiring on old R8806P10 and then hook up new wires same way on new R8806P10. Wiring is as follows: 2 hot wires from breaker connect to far left terminal and terminal second from right. Load wires connect to other two terminals. Since this is 240V, the either color wire can connect.

Sprinkler and irrigation timers are 14 day.

Intermatic has a page with manuals:
Open page, click plus next to timers and scroll down to sprinkler and irrigation timers
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/instruction%20manuals.aspx
It's good to have the manual on hand in case the product is discontinued

That being said, it sounds like the clock motor is bad.
Snap timer free from box and tip out to see clock motor located on back of timer.
Get the number off clock motor

Intermatic site shows pages of clock motors: They are priced high, but cheaper than new timer.

Aplus supply sells assortment of Intermatic clock motors.
