Check the gas is on.
Check the pilot is lit.
Check that the valve is set at a high enough heat setting. The disc on the front of the gas valve. It may be set to "vacation" in which case nothing will happen untill you turn it to a warm setting.

Natural gas water heater pop off valve leaking even after replacement

This is unusual. The first thing to ask is what is the water pressure reading at your location? It could be too high. That would cause the valve to be close to opening and leak. The second could be something to do with the thread area that the valve screws into. What is the age of the heater and has it ever been dropped or damaged? Third is how hot is the water temp?

Water goes cold 1/2 way thru shower.this has already cost me a new regulater.probable cause?

Could be one of three things first the dip tube on the cold side of your water heater could be broken off which would cause the cold water took to come out of the outlet side of the water heater to soon before being heated all the way which can be replced second your water heater could be full of sediment to the point where you're not getting the full amount of hot water so you would need a new water heater and third it could be a bad cartridge in Your Shower depending on the type of valve you have which could cause the water to mix. third one is least likely

Hot water varies

I do not know how old this unit is or what model but many water heaters are not sophisticated enough to measure the temperature, but heat based on water flow and temperature rise. To start, tankless water heaters turn off every time you turn the hot water off. Lets use an example. You use the facilities, wash your hands then turned off the water and take a shower. You will bring the already heated water (from washing your hands) from the pipe up to the shower. Then the cold water that comes into the pipe from the reactivation of the water heater comes up the hot water pipe with warm then hot water just behind.

If this is not your problem, keep reading. Every unit I have been called to see were installed wrong. Check your installation manual to see if the problem with the system started with the contractor.

First, check the temperature of the water from the heater. If it is too hot and you are mixing too much cold water in, the unit will turn off because there is not enough water flow to keep it running.

Second, turn off the valve at the water heater and turn on the hot water at a faucet. If the water does not stop running, there is a "plumbing cross over" usually caused by a failing pressure balance valve in a shower.

Third, if the unit has not been serviced, go to bosch-climate.us to find a tankless water heating professional in your area. Totally Tankless LLC

Only about a cup of hot water will come out, then it gets cold.

You need to check 2 things. First, go outside and carefully open pressure relief valve at top of tank,(careful in case hot water spurts out) and make sure there is water in it. Second, look at back of tank inside RV and check your by-pass valves(s) for proper positioning. Cold water enters the water heater at the bottom fitting, so that valve has to be open, as well as leaves water heater at hot fitting at top of tank (the highest fitting) so that valve as well needs to be open. Any valves that may be in between those 2 water lines need to be closed. I am assuming that the heater starts runs, shuts down etc, just not running any hot water through hot side of taps, correct?

How do you set the thermostat above 120 degrees? My dishwasher requires 135 degrees. Thank you.

you shouldn't have to set your heater to 135. dishwashers have a built in heating element for just this purpose.

once you start going over 120 degrees on your water heater, you start creating scalding problems.
130 degree water can cause second degree burns in 30 seconds
140 degree water can cause second degree and even third degree burns in 6 seconds
150 degree water can cause third degree burns in 2 seconds.

be very careful !

The plumber put in the heater yesterday, the electrician says there is power going into it but no hot water today...It has not heated.

Hi,
A couple of things....
Was the power turned on even for a couple of seconds before the heater was completely filled with water and the air purged from it? Powering up a hot water heater even for a few seconds with out the elements totally immersed will burn them out.
The other thing to check is the reset button on the top thermostat. It is posible that it needs to be reset.
Pull the cover and peelaway to insulation to find the red button. Push firmly on that and if it clicks it was the problem. If it continues to cut out then you have other issues. Be sure to cut the power before opening the cover to prevent getting shocked.
It is also possible that the top element is bad from the get go... If the top does not heat then it will never switch to the bottom and you will never have any hot water.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Noritz not staying hot

How many faucets do you have on when this happens? Turn on more than 1 and if it still does the samt thing than I would check to see if the inlet water screen has debris in it. Valve off the unit and look at the inlet water side and theres a screeen that you should be able to remove and clean undeneith some running water and then replace. Good Luck
