Error message on my Nikon D80

I just traveled with my camera in my suitcase. For the first time ever, it's giving me an "error" message when I turn it on. I tried resetting it with the two-button reset, but got no results. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you. Jilda

I have the same message r07 on the same camera & lens combination. It is an lens error message that the lense will not focus. You can manually focus the lens in the auto mode and the camera will allow you to take a picture. I have been told it is the MR unit and cost of repair around $135.

Hi Jilda, if as taweiby state the r07 is in the lower right of the top LCD that is in the D80 manual page 36 it speaks about the buffer. The r number is how many shots the buffer at that moment can handle. It is not an error message.

MY CAMERA OF D80 NIKON HANG WHEN I INSTERT BATTRY BATERY SHOW CONTINUNING AND THEN NOT START

  • Ric Donato Jun 07, 2011

    Hi mazheraziz,
Please, do not type in all upper case. On the Internet that is the same a shouting, which I am sure you are not shouting.

Do look a the batter terminals, are they clean. Look inside the batter holder is it clean as well. Have you charged the battery? Is it a new battery or an old one, sometimes old ones quit holding a charge. Is you battery a Nikon or third party battery. If it is a Nikon is it the EN-EL3e?

The more information you are able to provide the better we are able to assist you.

    Cordially,

    Bubba Jones

Error message on nikon d80

The ERR message indicates a camera malfunction. In my D-90 manual it says that it can be cleared by releasing the shutter. The only way to do that is to turn the camera off and back on. Rarely, that won't work and you have to remove and reinstall the battery.

The manual also says that it this have frequently or persist to contact a Nikon authorized service center. I would contact Nikon tech support at www.Nikon.com and discuss the problem them before contacting an authorized service center.

Set both the exposure dial and the focusmode to "M" and press the shutter button. Then turn the camera off for 10 - 15 seconds. If this doesn't solve the problem, it's an electronic or mechanical error.

There is not any way anyone other than Nikon could tell you what it will cost. Call Nikon they will only give you an arbitrary estimate. When you send it in they will evaluate it sending you the cost. At that time you decide if you want it fixed. If you decide the cost is to great they mail it back to your. Next; what is your error message?

Nikon D80 error message rEE

This may be due to the aperture ring in your lens. Try the following:

1. Turn off your camera
2. Move the aperture ring clockwise then lock
3. Turn on your camera and try again.

If this does not work, do the same thing again but turn the aperture ring counter-clockwise.

No shutter release

It turns out that supporting the camera while taking a shot can impart a slight twist on the seated lens. This twist is just enough to cause the camera to think that there is no lens installed .. hence the error message. Solution (provided my Henry's Camera experts) was to reseat the lens by reversing the twist. It has since happenned twice and each time recovery was effective .... Keith
