Question about Mitsubishi MS17TN Air Conditioner

Open Question

My Mr slim runs about 5 mins then it shuts off

The on light blinks after it shuts off. I took pressure redings and the suction pressure is 75 psi with a high side pressure of 110 psi. The outside temp is 91*. What do you think the problem is?

Exactly how much refrigerant did you charge into the system when you recharged it? If the suction pressure is varying that much you most likely over charged the system and got a liquid flood back which took out the compressor valves.

Sounds to me like yo have dirty condenser coils (outside unit) After this runs and gets hot it loads the compressor because it can not release heat out of the condenser coil it also may have a restriction somewhere on the high side that could cause this maybe in a txv or in a line filter.

Hope this helps Ya

is the distributor inside the condensing unit on this system? it sounds like it is under charged also check the fan operation on the evap along with the filters and evap not dirty. if all is good i would say low on charge. i never had a restriction in a mini split. check the orifice in the condensing unit

P8 eroor code

P8 error is abnormal pipe temperature indoor. If you are running it on heating P8 error will appear because the disc pressure is too high. It could be overcharged.

Pressure in both lines fluctuate from 140psi to below 30psi

The foreign made market is different than the USA.

First if the unit doesn't get a change or input from a manual command (on the remote on mine) it will shut off because it assumes there is no one there.

2nd if it is in the timer mode it may be different in orientation than what you are used to looking at.

TO make sure these are not your problem review the instructions.

If this is R22 or R410A there is not a pressure switch that will cut it "OFF" at 140#. And if your fluctuating tween 30 and 140 It is almost sure its low on charge especially if its new. Now I assume you mean 140 on the high side, right?

Right Indicator light blinks; left is solid; nothing in manual about this pattern

that is an error code.

count how many blinks after a pause and that would be the error code.

could be 4 , 5, 7, or 9.

you could reset it by un plugging or removing power for ten minutes and try it again.

if the problem would re-occur, then there is something wrong with the unit.

as it runs, observe everything and keep me posted. see if the fn outside is running, if the filter is clean, or if the compressor is running, etc.

tnx 4 using fixya,
