Are you downloading it via wireless connection or wired? Do you know how to access the routers utility page? if yes then setup the MTU size. for DSL connection use 1492, for cable connection use 1500/1400/1300 (try which is best for your).

Limited accessibility for wifi

For that you need to enable DHCP on router.or set static ip in wireless network adapter tcp ip property. You can enable DHCP with below method. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on DHCP and enable it then save settings and restart router then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Upgrade my bandwidth coming into the house. Now I am getting dropped wirelessly and my ISP is saying that my router is the problem. Is there a firmware upgrade for the Wireless-G 2.4 broadband router?

Proceed to this website

http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54G

Click on the download tab.

In the drop-down menu you will have to provide your Hardware Version number. You find this on the bottom of the router under the model number. There is a blue hyperlink next to the dropdown menu that says Where's My Model Number, you can click on that for a better description of where you can find it.

Once you select your version, Firmware Upgrade Instructions and Firmware Upgrade download links will appear... assuming there are firmware upgrades for your specific version.

Read and follow the instructions and you should be good to go!

Keep in mind though, that routers do go bad occasionally and you may just need to buy a new one, hopefully that is not the case. The information you provided doesn't really make me believe your router is broken, but I thought I should throw that out there.

Hope this helps! If not, please comment back and let us know!

Router keeps dropping signal. I have to constantly unplug it and restart it. Reset button doesn't work. Yes, mi Internet connection is OK, I've checked it with my phones and by connecting the computer...

Hi ,

I got your issue, Since your router keeps dropping the connection , the best fix is to update the firmware on the router. Here is the link,

http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306/session/L3NpZC9DRXppQW1maw%3D%3D/kw/f5d8236/r_id/166/sno/1

You have 4 different firmware version, select the appropriate version for Eg: If your version number of the router is ver:3000 then download v 3xxx and update the firmware on the router , that it will fix your issue.

With Regards,
Prema.

I lost my installation CD

look on the bottom of the router to see what version it is.
EX: WGR616v6
then go to:
NetGear Web Site

Choose the version you have and download the firmware.
If you want to make it real easy download Network Magic. Even the free version is really good at keeping you connected to internet, game systems, and networking to other computers and managing hotspots (WiFi).

I need to update the Belkin Router for Wildblue.net

From the user manual:
Updating the Firmware
From time to time, Belkin may release new versions of the Router’s
firmware. Firmware updates contain feature improvements and fixes to
problems that may have existed. When Belkin releases new firmware,
you can download the firmware from the Belkin update website and
update your Router’s firmware to the latest version.
(1)
Checking for a New Version of Firmware
The “Check Firmware” (1) button allows you to instantly check for a new
version of firmware. When you click the button, a new browser window
will appear informing you that either no new firmware is available or that
there is a new version available. If a new version is available, you will
have the option to download it.
Downloading a New Version of Firmware
If you click the “Check Firmware” button and a new version of firmware
is available, you will see a screen similar to the one below:
1. To download the new version of firmware, click “Download

2. A window will open that allows you to select the location where
you want to save the firmware file. Select a location. You can
name the file anything you want, or use the default name. Be
sure to locate the file in a place where you can locate it yourself
later. When you have selected the location, click “Save”.
3. When the save is complete, you will see the following window.
Click “Close”.
The download of the firmware is complete. To update the firmware,

Updated Canadian firmware

check the exact model of your router with the version number.. it can be found underneath the device itself.. you could also check the firmware on the router's page by accessing it, then go to the status tab.. on that kind of routers, if the firmware ranges from 1.50.0-1.51.2 you need to upgrade that because it gives you a problem.. the latest version is 1.52.2.. those are routers of version 5 and 6.. you can download the firmware at www.linksys.com/downloads.. select NA and usa first then type your model number and select your version number.
