Hi, well we got to the service menu and got the new color wheel in. You directions were great. But it seems that the red and blue are backwards. What is supposed to be red is blue and vice verse. Any solution to this?

    Thanks!!!

Hello,

does the indexing procedure work also with the HD44LPW164 TV? My problem is that i have some small green shadows around small red objects, for example football players if i watch sports. Maybe the index procedure helps?
Is the green colour automatic on the tv screen ?

Thanks,

Torsten

They make two different color wheels for the Rca DLP are you positive you got the right one. As usually its a straight forward install no adjusting needed. Post the chassis number off the back of your set and I will try to help you out with it.

your chassis is the ATC311M and the color wheel is correct here is the info on how to index the color wheel properly, And If you would like the full factory service manual for your set let me know and I will post a link where you can get one over 300 pages emailed to you. Write evrything down when you enter the service menu.

    Color Wheel Index Adjustment

The Color Wheel (CW) Index adjustment is best done using Chipper Check.

However, if Chipper Check is not available, the CW adjustment can be done using

    the Serviceman Menu.

To do the CW adjustment via the serviceman menu, access service menu 80. Once

in service menu 80, use the input button on the remote to toggle through until the

display reads Color Wheel Index. To make the adjustment start by noting what the

value is. Using the volume down, adjust until the green color starts to fade. Note the

point where the green screen starts to fade and write down the value indicated as

    stop point A.

Next, using the volume up, run the value back through the starting point and proceed

until the green starts to fade in the opposite direction. Make note of this value as well

and write it down as stop point B.

Now using the two stop points (A and B), find the center value between the two. This

is done by subtracting point A from point B, dividing this value by 2 and adding it to

point A. This value will be the middle point between point A and point B and also the

    Color Wheel Index value.

The tint is controled by the phasing (speed) of the color wheel. try tweaking the index value to see if this helps bring it back with in the proper tint range. Still searching for a detailed proceedure for you.

Thats the Indexing proceedure I posted above. try tweaking that a little and see if it will dial in the tint .

Heres the link to the service manual. You will want the ATC311 DLP training manual , because if you get that one they include the extra service manual with it that breaks down every phase of the RCA dlps. You'll be emailed 2 seperate manuals the ATC311 and the ATC32xx series which are the same but the second larger manual gives all the indexing info for all theDLPs.

I have a RCA Scenium HDTV DLP that has a whinning sound and no picture. Could this be the bulb?

No, this is the color wheel. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4160054-replace_color_wheel_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains in detail how to change the color wheel and where to get the parts.

How can i check my lamp ballast in a rca scenium 50w151 everyone tells me its my color wheel because i replaced my lamp and since then my tv wont even start up the light blinks then it stays on for a while...

are you sure when you replaced the lamp you seated it correctly, no really hapens all the time so dont feel bad. also another common error is the lanp door is not seated or closed and locked properly that is the most common problem that happens after a lamp is replaced, or the new lamp is bad never throw out your old one as somr dealers will give you what they call a core refund , they reuse the case around the old lamp. some can be worth as much as 50 to 60 bucks!!!

No picture and loud screeching on RCA Scenium 50" DLP

It sounds like it is the Color Wheel. I do not think you can get the Color Wheel separate from the Optical Engine like you can with Samsung. RCA is very tight with there parts like that. Because you have to get the whole
Engine Assy, cost would be too much in my opinion to invest into it. The part cost approx 800.00 the last time I checked on one.
Good Luck,
I Hope this helped,

Color is wrong after color wheel replacement

Hello,

You probably replaced a bearing colorwheel, and it was replaced with a bearingless. If you look inside the TV on the back of the light engine (the silver box in front of and to the left of the color wheel), there should be a jumper (that connects two wires coming out) toward the bottom of it in a recessed little hole. That jumper should be removed if the color wheel was replaced with the air bearing type. Just grasp it gently with a pair of needle nose pliers, and pull it out slowly.

This should restore a normal color operation, but there might be some other adjustments that need to be made if it doesn't clear it up completely.

I hope this helps you...

My RCA is screeching

To install the color wheel, turn off and unplug the tv, take off the lower back casing (17 star type screws), remove the lamp door, remove the lower back casing. Look just left of the lamp you will see 3 smaller star type screws near a small circuit board (which is on the color wheel), remove those screws unplug cable from color wheel, unplug other end of 2nd cable from tv circuit board (just to the upper left nearest to the color wheel.

All you have to do is install the color wheel, plug in both cables, put the back on and place the lamp door back in its position, the lamp door pushes in a lillte blue lever which allows the lamp bulb to light up.

I'm in the process of doing the same myself on my RCA same model. Where did you buy the color wheel from?
