Hello there:
I will post this in 2 separate post so you will be able to troubleshoot this fully ok?
f the refrigerator or freezer isn't cooling properly or if one is and the other isn't , you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running. First, answer these questions: Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.” Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it. Next, see if the compressor motor is running The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help. If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these: in next post

    Cooling is poor

A refrigerator or freezer that is cooling, but
    cooling
poorly, may have a problem in one of several areas:

    Evaporator

    coils

    Condenser

Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost
build-up on the evaporator coils or a condenser that is clogged with
    dust, lint, and dirt.

    Evaporator coils

Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost
build-up on the evaporator coils. You can't see these coils without
removing a panel on the inside of your freezer. A sure sign that there
is a build-up is the presence of any frost or ice build-up on the inside
walls, floor, or ceiling of the freezer. Such a frost build-up usually
indicates a problem in the self-defrosting system or damaged door
    gaskets.

The refrigerator is supposed to self-defrost
approximately four times in every 24 hour period. If one of the
components in the self-defrosting system fails, the refrigerator
continues to try to cool. Eventually, though, so much frost builds up on
the evaporator coils that the circulating fan can't draw air over the
coils. There may still be a small amount of cooling because the coils
are icy, but with no air flow over the coils, cooling in the
    refrigerator compartment is quite limited.

Here's an inexpensive, though inconvenient, way to
determine if the problem is with the self-defrosting system. Remove all
of the perishable food from the refrigerator and freezer, turn the
thermostat in the refrigerator to Off, and leave the doors open for 24
to 48 hours. (Be sure to have several towels ready in case the melting
frost and ice causes the drip pan to overflow). This allows the
refrigerator to defrost "manually." When the frost and ice build-up has
completely melted away, turn the thermostat back to a normal setting. If
the refrigerator then cools properly, it indicates a problem with one
of three components in the self-defrosting system:

My 18 year old refrigerator GE model TFX24FG freezer side is not keeping food frozen. Refrigerator side seems to be working normally.

The refrigerator side is at present working properly , but slowly slowly, it will also loose its cooling. This will happen because, freezer side is the side which cools first, then the refrigerator side ( also called as fridge side)., gets cooled. If freezer side is not cooling / freezing properly then fridge side will also loose its cooling ability.------------ And later on both section will loose its cooling.----------- As per the present situation, it indicates problem with compressor or problem with freezer side door not closing properly.---------- Or the temperature in freezer section is not set to proper cooling/ freezing.--------- So first inspect temperature, is it set right? If ok, then check the freezer door , is it properly closed? If ok, then its compressor problem.? The compressor is running non stop, this is indication of compressor problem.---------- Click this link below for more help:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/06/both-refrigerator-and-freezer-not.html ----------- Later on both section will loose its cooling. -------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The Whirlpool fridge part of the fridge /freezer is freezing up it should be an auto defrost and the only solution at moment is to switch it on and off.please help Allan

Hello,
Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.
Hoping that this will help to solve the problem of the refrigerator...

My Whirlpool ET8WTKXKT0 doesn't cooling down. The fan is working, but the compressor like dead. What I have to check? Thanks. Victor

Its the problem with compressor,The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant ( R12) in the compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that freezer not cooling this indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Whirlpool refrigerator

When you switch on the fridge, do you hear the sound of compressor working OR when you touch the fridge there is little vibration. If not then the power is not properly connected. Check the power supply cord and ensure that wires are connected properly. Also check the power outlet in the wall. If above is OK then you have to get the gas checked up. There may not be sufficient gas. If the gas is OK then the condenser/compressor is not functioning for that you have to call a technician from the technician from the service center.

Ice & water dripping in refrigerator

Seems that you now have to little gas in the fridge.Somewhere on your apparatus there should be a factory tag where it should be info on amount of gas, prod date etc and also which type of gas to fill.
Other thing as fan not running properly, door gaskets leaking can lead to Ice build up.
High humidity and water all over inside fridge.Gas filling procedure.Make vacum(vacumpump)Fill in correct weight (grams or oz)of gas.Anyhow when you must fill gas there is usually a leak in your system and to find that i use liquid nitrogen. For this serviceman is the best option.

How do I turn off the freezer section on a fridge freezer?

Unfortunately you can't. Both the fridge and freezer sections are cooled by the same compressor. You can't just have one without the other!
