Is your Panasonic set to monitor the HDMI input? Just like selecting a mode input on the Tv you must also select the mode input on the surround system.

I can't use the remote for a Panasonic home theater system on my 42lg450 tv

The LC device has to be able to interface to the Panasonic. With compatible devices, they can talk to each other through the HDMI cables. With the audio, if you want to feed the TV out to the amplifier a fiber optic cable is required.

I guess you are using the audio system as the sound and video routing for the TV. The control protocols between some manufactures of TV's with sound systems will not match. You will need a separate remote for each device.

A solution that may also work is using a universal remote that can do cross control. You can set up this type of remote so the volume control works with the amplifier, and the other controls work with the TV at the same time. Logitch has some very good remotes that will do this, but they are costly.

The sound on my Panasonic TXPG20, 50" is poor, how

THE SPEAKERS IN MOST FP DTV'S ARE QUITE ORDINARY. BUY A 5.1 SYSTEM FOR IT. IF U GET A PANASONIC UNIT, THEY AUTO CONNECT VIA PANASONIC'S LINKING SYSTEM. EVEN THE SMALL SYSTEMS PRIMARILY AIMED AT COMPUTERS TO ENHACE SOUND WILL WORK BUT THE BIGGER TOWER TYPE SYSTEMS WITH WIRELESS REAR SPEAKERS AND DECENT SIZE SUBS WORK REALLY WELL. I HAVE AN LG 50" DTV AND LG BLUE RAY HOME THEATRE SYSTEM HOOKED UP TO IT. IT IS 1100 WATTS AND GIVES YOUR MOVIES VERY SERIOUS SURROUND SOUND.

Having just bought a Panasonic TX-37LZD80 television and a panasonic sc-pt460EB-K home cinema system, I connected the 2 together using a HDMI Cable and all works well except that I cannot get the sound...

When I purchased the television iI was told that I would only need a HDMI cable to connect the devices together, this is not true as the HDMI only provides 1 way transmission, to get the sound to go from the television back to the home cinema you need to use either a Phono Lead or Optical lead, plug them in and Hey Presto it works.

What kind of cables are you using to hook up the DVD to the TV? Are they they composite, component, or S-Video? What are the connectors you're plugging both ends of the cables into labeled? Are you plugging the audio cables into the TV or directly into the sound system?

Home cinema/Viera link problem

Turn everything off and disconnect from mains.
Wait a few minutes.
Disconnect HDMI cable.
Turn on TV and DVD.
Connect cable.
If this does not work use a cable of different spec.
I had the same problem and now mine works .
Good luck.
