Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If you have already checked the capacitors on the power supply board and they seem to be fine then it can be a circuit protection issue. If that is the case the unit either turns off after sometime or the sound remains there. To check what is the issues inspect the diodes as they are part of the protection circuit if the backlight misfires. You can also test the components by a voltmeter however, it is only recommended if you have knowledge of internal circuitry. Please note that the TV components consists high voltages even when in off position. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Hi,
I would purchase and replace the power supply board as a whole as this is the common problem with these tv's and it only runs 25$. Here is the link:

Thank you,

If i am understanding what you are saying then it's probably a problem with the bulbs or the inverter board. Also that is the power supply board listed for the model you have me. If you need further assitance let me know and if/when you find it appropriate please accept/rate my solution accordingly.
    Thank you,
    Lee

Sharp LC-50LE442U does not turn on. RED standby LED is lit, when I try to turn it on, the LED turns green but screen stays black. LED then stays green, won't go back to red when turning off.

You cannot tell if capacitors are bad just by looking at them. they need to have a meter called an ESR meter to test them, I can tell you with almost certainty that it is a capacitor in the power supply that has failed. My Sharp Aquuos tv won't turn on. It has power and will come on for a second or two, then goes black. The tv's power indicator is on and stays red

The issue here is with the power supply board, allot of these TV's are known for bad capacitors so you might want to check those out.

When a bad cap is present the TV will not function as normal so keep that in mind.

A best resource for bad caps www.badcaps.net

A $2 cap could save you hundreds in repaires.

Sharp LC-13AV4U - turn it on and in ten seconds it turns off. Happens every time.

Hello
There is some short with the inside circut of your TV. The short usually occurs with the inverter transformer for backligh bulbs of with video processing section. These tw sections should be checked throrughly to find out the actual short. You must have sound knoledge in digital electronics, skill to work with these section, good quality digital multimeter [analogue multimeter or low quality digital multimeters should not be touched with LCD circuits]. Actually this is not a user repairable fault. If you have all facilities mentioned above check these sections for short. OK.

some projection tv's will do this if you do not touch another button within 10 seconds. Power your tv on then change the volume or channel. This should let your tv know that it was not an accidental power on. Hope this helps.

Turns itself off

Sharp LC-13AV4U - turn it on and in ten seconds it turns off.
Happens every time.
Any Ideas?
-----------------------------------------------
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
This is NOT a fix, this is a permanent band-aid.
All you need is a phillips head and tiny diagonal cutters....
Heck, even a nail clipper would do it.
Just disable that faulty protection shut-down circuit!
Remove all the screws from the back cover
and look at the main board with the
unplugged! power cord towards you.
In the upper right corner of the board, you will find
a tiny red-striped zener diode, labeled as D409.
It is to the right of an electrolytic capacitor marked C403.
Snip this diode, at either end, or snip both ends and discard it.
Re-assemble the TV.....and you just got your tv back!.
I only run mine when I am sitting in front of it,
I never leave it running unattended....just in case!
Don't blame me it yours burns up....but mine is just fine.
The Robot Doctor.
