Have you tried another computer? have you tried toggling the FN key and your CRT/Icon key at the same time.

All projecters doees not recognise my laptop

this is not a projector problem. For this you should use the hotkey on your laptop once connected to the projector to switch your display to the projector. On most computers this is fn( lower left of keyboard) + f4 or alt f4. The longer way to do this is to go to control panel and select display and select display number 2

I have dell latitude E6400, I am unable to toggle between external display(projector/monitor) and laptop display. As in laptop manual, i have tried using function keys (fn+f8).

@praskumar79

Things to check:

1. Is your display automatically transfer to the projetor right away when you plug the VGA/HDMI cable to the computer? If not, and Fn+F8 doesn't do anything, try to press the Windows Key+P (the windows key looks like this ray_tosh_1.jpg ). This will allow you to switch between displays. (see image below).

2. If you choose one of the display mode above and it still won't clone/extend the image on your computer to the projector, try to use a different cable. If still no go, try to re-install the display driver and see if that fixes it. If same issue, there might be a problem with your VGA/HDMI/Display port and needs to be serviced.

Good luck

It worked beautifully last night with my macbook in a test run of my powerpoint, but this morning I plugged it in for the REAL presentation it didnt work. A bright, clear picture of the Viewsonic Logo...

you might need to turn off your computer .
then connect the data projector
and turn on data projector
then turn on computer
hopefully it detects the data projector is connected and switches windows to duplicate projection
On my P.C. F4 key in windows Switches the display manually to duplicate, alternate screen or pc screen only or projector screen only.
As I am not familiar with Apple this support article below might explain the switching of display outputs available on Apple Mac.

Projector fires up, menus display, search finds the attached computer but all that displays is a blank screen, no desktop. We had a lightning storm last week that spiked a network switch and two printer...

try brand new cables. I think a spike would possibly do this, doubtful though since the projector itself is not fried. also try reflashing the unit with the newest firmware.

It will not recognise my acer laptop

hy
a projector dosent need to recognize anything you just plug your (vga,hdmi,dvi,...) cable in to the laptop and the other half in the projector and it has to work . Did you switch the display from the laptops TFT to an external 'anything' its fuction(key on your laptop) + one of the F# buttons.
Or just explain with more details.

Good luck .

Doesn't shut off

There is a "mute" screen which will hide the picture on your projector. If thats not the case there seems to be a problem with the remotes/controls fo rthis projector, as my functions do not workcorrectly all the time.
Lastly, the red x in the upper corner meant that you had no signal going to the projector, and would have no effect on shutting down.
Hope this helps

Toshiba laptop won't work with new optoma projector

-toggle the laptop display using the FN keys and F5 I believe. -lower laptop resolution to 800 x 600 -look in laptop display properties for lcd or external display settings, see if it (external crt) has to be enabled on the laptop first.
