Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator
Really this is one of two things. The compressor is shot, or the device that starts the compressor is shot. Whirlpool uses good compressors, and finding bad ones are rare. There is a device connected to the side of the compressor. Sometimes it is held in by a clip of some sort. I would unplug the frig first, then remove the device. This is called an overload relay.
Quite often the relay is burned badly, or visually damaged. You will also be able to shake it and hear a rattle. There is not supposed to be a rattle. This means it is broken and replacing this should get your compressor started! :D

Deet, Unplug the refrigerator and the 3 pins on the compressor. Remember where the three compressor wires go when you put them back on. Test all three pins 2 at a time with an ohm meter. You should get readings all the way around. Then test 1 pin at a time touching the other probe to the copper on the outside the compressor. Tell me what you come up with, Thanks, JT
