The float and needle need to be replaced in the fuel bowl. What is happening is, the float is stuck upward raising the needle out of the hole completely causing the carb to over flow. A kit can be bought for $5 or so. Easily replaced. You can also try cleaning it with a mild solvent, but usually when the float messes up it's best to replace.

Cyl fills up with gas after shut down to re-start must remove plug drain cyl re-install plug then mower runs fine??

Sounds like the inlet needle in the carburetor is stuck open. If you are lucky, you can give the carburetor a few taps near the fuel inlet area. (A few taps doesn't mean hitting it with a sledge hammer.) If that doesn't work, remove the fuel supply line from the carburetor and give the fuel inlet on the carburetor a shot of compressed air.
If the problem still persists, you need to replace the carburetor inlet needle and seat and be sure the float level is correct. I am assuming that you have not had the carburetor off and have not changed the carburetor float level.

Jd gx345 20 hp kawasaki water cooled. turns over will not start Both coils have juice to bath termals at the same time with the key on or off.

Drain fuel completely from tank, fuel line, and carburetor... Change fuel filter, change spark plug(s) add FRESH gas... Not 1 week, month or year old gas... (Can't be contaminated, or mixed with old fuel) there will be a drain screw on the carburetor (at the side of the bowl) You may need some quick start to get the engine to initially start up and keep it running with the spray until the fuel system fills up with fresh fuel and stays started.

I have a murray 15.5 hp the problum is that it want stay runing but if i pour gas in the carbarater it will stay runing as long as your pouring gas in it but it acts like gas ant getting to the carbarater...

I would first check the fuel line to the carburetor to see if fuel is getting there, as the line or tank may have became clogged, if it is getting gas then you may have to take the carburetor off and clean it. Good Luck Tim

Why is gas filling up the combustion chanber

The carburetor float needle valve is stuck, or the float is defective for that cylinder. This allows the fuel to keep flowing into the carburetor, and then it overflows, into the cylinder. Normally, the float would rise up, pushing the needle valve into position, shutting off the fuel. This isn't happening, and you're ending up with the fuel in the cylinder. You need to clamp off the fuel line, take the bowl off the carburetor, and investigate. Make sure that it moves, if it doesn't you will need to take it apart and clean it. If you notice the float is crushed, or full of fuel, or otherwise broken, then you will need to address that instead.

THE V-TWINS HAVE AN EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP AND IS GRAVITY FED FROM THE TANK TO THE PUMP. MAKE SURE THE FUEL LINE IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE FUEL LINES ARE BELOW THE FUEL TANK LEVEL ANT TIME THE FUEL LINE GETS ABOVE THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK FUEL WILL STOP FLOWING TO THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING THIS PROBLEM

Poulan ride on lawn mower will not run by itself--if you pour gas into the intake it will run until the sm amt runs out

It could be your fuel shutoff solenoid is not working or is stuck from gum, varnish or rust in your carb bowl. The fuel shutoff solenoid is located on the bottom of your carburetor. To check it, have someone, or yourself if you can reach the ignition switch, turn the key to the on position and back off several times while you listen by the carb. You should hear a click each time. If not, the carb will have to be taken off and cleaned and checked. You will probably find water and/or rust in your bowl plugging up the main jet. Best to take it to a shop.

Runs for awhile then will quit

Have the fuel lines or engine shielding been modified at all? Has the fuel filter been changed?
If all of that is OK, remove the fuel line from the tank at the fuel pump, remove the fuel fill cap, gently blow air back through the fuel line so you can here bubbles in the tank. The "tank pre-filter" could be plugged.
Let me know.
