Question about Compaq TFT8000 18.1" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

No image on screen

I recently relocated my computer and when all set up and turned on, screen is black except for a window showing this title: "CHECK VIDEO CABLE OR INPUT SELECT" it used to make three short consecutive beeps every minute or so. I tried disconnecting all cables and plug back CPU, monitor and mouse. The beeps were gone, but still black screen and same message. What am I missing?  Your help is greatly appreciated

Screen went black faint images

Hello,
If the screen went black and you can still see faint images of what your computer is currently showing, the typical issue would be a burnt out backlight. For the repair cost, I'd say just invest in a new monitor.
Just to cover the bases, make sure your brightness and contrast settings on the LCD are not set to zero.

I run on Windows XP, pack3 and I use a CRT ViewSonic EF70 ... 17 inches The screen is not filled completely with the image from Microsoft Internet Explorer, nor with Outlook Express .... there is about 3...

two things you can do, first right click on your windows screen and look for "settings" this will open a dialog box where you can set the screen resolution. Set it lower and see if your screen is now filled. if that doesn't work go into the monitor setup (buttons on the bottom or side of the monitor) and try to set the verticle and horizontal size, since its only 3/4 of an inch you should be able to stretch the screen to fill up the space.

Try to plug in this monitor to another pc. If it still does not show an image you may have to replace the monitor.

How to change the picture format on my monitor?

You should set your PC to the monitor native resolution for this monitor: 1440 x 900 @60Hz.
Here is the spec for your monitor: http://www.dealtime.com/xPO-AOC-919Swa1-Black

I had same problem.
Narrowed it down to C637 on logic board.
Replace C637 or logic board.

Gateway FPD1530 loses image shortly after powering up.

try booting into safe mode. press F8 while the computer is booting. see if everything stays normal. It should tell you that it booted into safe mode. Once there, change the resolution or the frequency of the display(also known as the refresh rate) by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties. Once there, click the tab all the way to the right, it should give you color quality options and resolution options. At the bottom, there should be an advanced tab. Depending on our video card this menu can be different from others. Look in that new window for and option to change the refresh rate or the frequency. The value will be in xxx hertz. try setting it to 60 hertz.

Proview PRO576 error message "mode not supported" and will show nothing else

Okay, we got a fix by having another monitor hooked up to our computer and going in to display and changing the display settings to a lower setting. The screen resolution - turn it to lower - I guess somehow - the setting was too high for our monitor. Don't know how it changed itself though. Anyway, change it to a lower resolution then re-hook up your monitor and see if it works. The reslution can be pushed back up until you notice the problem again.

Problem with monitor going black

Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. Power on both CPU1.gif and monitor. After it goes black, you have to check if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. Like me, I can see window image using flashlight and check lamps inside. Some of them were broken and it is easily replaced. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.
