I purchased a Memorex Mini Travel drive, but there is no info on attaching to a PC and also how to download files to the mini drive. Also, can you load data from a XP system to a VISTA system without conversion.

Thanks ...after loading data from XP to VISTA, can I load the data back into the XP?

Also does the process of loading data to memorex completly overlay the previous data even though the second data is a smaller data file?

I have a sony handy cam DCR - DVD105, I want to know all the ways of being able to connect it to a laptop and extract the files to use in other softwares, like Window's Movie Maker, or Power Direct 09.

How to load Mini DVD to Mac
  • Though Mini DVD can not be played back in Mac slot loading player, we have other ways to load Mini DVD to Mac.
  • Method 1 If Mini DVD camcorder has FireWire or USB; just connect the Mini DVD camcorder to Mac using FireWire, or USB to load Mini DVD to Mac.
  • Method 2 If Mini DVD camcorder has not FireWire or USB; just shop for external mini-DVD drive that uses either a USB or Firewire connector cable, and then connect the external mini-DVD drive to your Mac and install any extra software that came with it. Insert the mini-DVD into the external drive, and then access the files on the mini-DVD as you normally would to load Mini DVD to Mac.
  • Method 3 If Mini DVD camcorder has not FireWire or USB; buy an adapter that converts a mini-DVD to a normal DVD by adding on a circular plastic piece that emulates the full size of a regular DVD. Attach the adapter to the mini-DVD and load it into the Mac's DVD drive to access the files. (Check the specifications of the adapter before purchasing, as several on the market do not work in vertical-loading drives like those found on the MacBook Pro.)
  • Method 4 If Mini DVD camcorder has not FireWire or USB and you don't want to buy a separate external drive or full-size adapter either, but you do have access to a PC, you can transfer the files on the mini-DVD onto the PC, then put them onto a USB flash drive, which will work on your Mac.

We recieved a Memorex mini DVD-R with obvious data on it but my Dell T3500 workstation with Windows 7 64bit wont retrieve anything. Is there a way to see and therefor copy this data on my hard drive?

Hi ,

1°if the dvd comes from a camescope , download the trial version of Cyberling Power Director from . It should open the files .
2° If they are MOD files , download this free tool and convert the files to mpeg :
3° If nothing of this works , try Iso Buster , a data recovery tool , from
4° Make sure your drive is correctly working and test the mini dvd on another unit .

I hope one of these solutions will work .

Plug the USB drive into the computer, it should install and then give you the option to explore the drive.

Go to the folder with the files you want on the USB drive.
You can either copy and paste the files to the USB drive or just drag and drop them into the USB drive

I have just bought a digital photo frame. The necessary software that comes with it is on a 'mini' CD. I have an Acer box that you normally just push an ordinary CD into. I cannot get it to take the...

Dear Kayty -

Unfortunately, the "slot" cdrom drives are not intended for use with the mini CDs. However, there are a few options; Cheapest and easiest would be to go to the Digital Photo Frame manufacturer's web site and download the software - more often than not, all of the necessary drivers and utilities can just be downloaded and installed from the net.

Otherwise, you might consider purchasing an external cdrom drive, generally costing between 30 and 60 bucks new, that would connect to your computer via USB cable. Maybe you've considered buying a CD or DVD Burner for your computer? Either one would work for installing the software from a mini-cd.

Here's a link to an external CDRW drive on ebay to give ya an idea:

Hope this helps ya!
