Dryer vent hooks to bathroom fan to go out the roof

The laundry is in the bathroom of my house and the vent for the dryer connects with the bathroom fan vent in the attic to go out the roof. The appliance store would not hook up the dryer because they said it needs a separate vent system. Is this correct? Also, the vent hose he installed is not 4". Is this a problem?

Can I connect two bathroom fan ducts to a single roof vent?

No, both cannot be connected to same vent.
Or vent exhause from 1 fan will vent into other bathroom.
All house vents require separate duct.

Maytag model #: med5770tq0 won't dry. Please help

Dear Emily.
Several problems.
First, did this dryer ever work properly hooked up as it is?
I mean hooked to the roof event?
If it used to work just fine, then I suspect the vent to the roof is clogged with lint and is not allowing the heat to escape.
If it never did work right,(for example: it is new to us) then I'd venture dryers are not supposed to vent their hot air that far away, they do not have a strong enough blower to push that air that distance.
Then, you might try to find another place to vent the hot air, with a total distance of only 10 feet from the dryer, even if you only vented it while you were actually drying clothers.
I doubt if the last item is for you, but I have sometimes seen where the washing machine did not spin all the water out of the clothes, and then the dryer needed all day to get the clothes dry.
Be blessed.

Bosch nexxt 500 series dryer producing intermittent gas smell when running. wife says the smell has even permeated the clothes a time or two, but I haven't noticed it. heat exchage box? if so, how hard...

A few things to check...

First, check that the dryer vent is not clogged. You'll have to go outside to check. If you are not sure of a clog, disconnect from inside and have your wife hold a flashlight by the vent, then go outside to see if you can see it. This will also cause laundry to dry slower than it used to (your wife may have a feeling if this is the case).

Second, make sure you don't have negative pressure in the house (large house fans are good for cooling but move too much air out so the dryer cannot vent its exhaust gasses well). You can check by opening an exterior door about an inch and check if it swings open with a gush of wind. Even houses without whole-house fans can do this if you have enough bathroom fans and furnace fans going.

Third, If it is a smell of natural gas, then you should call a service technician because the valve is not opening/closing correctly (or fast enough) if you have a pilot-less starter.

The Air Flow warning keeps coming on and laundry will not completely dry, I always clean the lint vent and the vent to the outside of the house but still a problem

This really sounds like a block in the vent piping. Sometimes the exit point outside the house has a guard on it. Did you clean out the pipe running in the walls or across the ceiling? Maybe there is a lint ball inside the dryer where the hose hooks on or where the hose hooks onto the wall. Try running the dryer with the exhaust hose sticking out the door of your house and see if the warning still comes on. Maybe the hose is kinked?

Our new bathroom fan is not clearing the room the ceiling is wet and the paint peeling the fan is model #FV-LP003

I use to be a chimney sweep. One of my jobs was to clean vents for dryers and bath vents. What could be your problem is that you have a bird nest in the vent system. It sounds to me that you have a vent on the roof for the fan. A bird could have damaged the cap to gain entrance and built a nest. With the cap gone, rain can come in. With the nest, it will not vent out the room. You could call your local chimney sweep company and they will clean it for you. Or if you are capable, Lowe's or Home Depot sell dryer vent cleaning rods. They are sturdy but flexible rods with a 4" brush on the end. Two other handy tools will be a high power shop vac to **** out anything from inside the vent, and a high power blower that has vacuum capability to use out side the house. Cafe full though, if it pulls out a nest, it will shoot it out with great force.

Are there crackes in the hose and is it clamped on at the dryer outlet ?
Check also to see if it is pluged up or if the hose came off the connection to vent outside or also the vent flaps are sticking. If you by chance have solid tubes, wrap up the seams and connections with duct tape.

condensation is created by 2 exteme temperature change.
looks like the loft space is colder than the rest of the house.
first make sure there is not blockage in the vent. then warp the vent with fiberglass as much as you can. it doesn't matter what R value the fiberglass is. just enough to cut the temperture change.
you still going to need a exhust fan in the bathroom.
