Hello EMIS,

On the front panel of the DVD-RW, you should see a small hole, either above or below the tray. Take a paper clip and open it out. This should just about fit into the hole. Push the clip tip into the hole as far as it will go and keep poking around. This will actuate the manual release lever for the tray and the tray should pop out.
S-L-O-W-L-Y pull the tray out and take out your DVD. Restart the computer and the tray should go in automatically.

Hope this helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. Before you assign a rating, please make sure that the issue is resolved or you are satisfied. If not, please post back as to what you did, and/or any other questions you may have, and I will try to assist you as best I can. Please do not assign an ‘Inappropriate’ or ‘Thanks for trying’ rating if your issue is not resolved after the first response itself, as sometimes a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary before we can find a fix or an answer to your query.

If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! or Helpful rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

Cheers!

I just put this drive in a new computer and now it won't read it opens i put a disc in and then close and it does nothing. i have changed the cable, change the power. and now i think i might need the...

Hi, well I think your DVDRW is OK & you don't need any driver. The detail that you are missing is the "jumper" found on your DVDRW. Normally you have 2 connections on your IDE cable. The upper one being "master" & the second middle one "slave". You should set the jumper according to the place on the cable where it is connected. You will find CSM written on your DVDRW. 'C' means cable select, 'S' means Slave & 'M' means Master.
You should refer to it when setting the jumper. If you have 2 drives on that cable & they are both set as 'slave' or both 'master', therefore only one would be detected & displayed in my computer.
Your problem would surely be solved... & have a nice time.

hi,

A Virus Would Corrupt or remove/Change drivers.
You need to remove The Virus.
You should then remove The DVD Drive Manually from The Machine.
Start the Computer without The Drive, then power Off the Computer.
re-install the Drive, boot up and Hopefully it should be detected in ( found new Hardware ) if not, go to add new hardware wizard, and see if it,s detected there. A Virus Can Actually lock-Off a Drive.

Dvd rw drive not reading discs (DVD and CD)

Hi,
That sound to me like a defective dvdrw because it can't read the dvd an try to re read and re read and lock the computer until you take it out.

Solution:

Tools:
+ Small screwdriver
-- Small screwdriver

Buy a new or used dvdrw for laptop, first take out the laptop battery. Locate the two screws at bottom of your laptop, take them out, whit a paper clip open the dvdrw from a small hole in front of it, pull the defective dvdrw out, if the front plastic face plate is diferent from yours you can change them using a small - screwdriver (be carefull). If you dvdrw have a smalls canals at sides in your defective dvdrw take them out and put them in the new one two, Install the new dvdrw by slowly pushing in to the dvdrw hole until it take its place, put the two screw drivers back + the battery and you shuold be on your way.
