It depends on the OS you are going to run the system and the program the will be hosted on the system. 1Gb May be Ideal if you do not run heavy application.

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz 512 MB of RAM. can i increase the memory to 1gb?

Yes pentium 4 supports 4gb of ram..
older system supports 2gb of ram..
So you can increase your memory to your suitable choice.
While for agp graphics cards xfx radeon hd launched 4650 agp graphics card with gddr2 memory so you can purchase it for graphics card needing 1gb memory..
Please rate me on fixya if i am helpful..

Idownload windows7 ultimat and ineed audio

Unfortunately, your laptop model is older than 2007 and Toshiba does not offer Windows Seven support for models older than that. Also, the factory specs of your laptop say that you have 512 MB RAM. Therefore, I strongly discourage the use of Windows Seven on your laptop since the minimum required memory is 1GB -> unless, of course, you've upgraded your RAM memory. In conclusion, it will be very difficult to find a suitable Windows Seven audio driver - your only choice is to find a newer laptop model (newer than 2007) that has the same audio device as you do and install its driver. I searched for one for over an hour now, but still, no luck.

I am running an intel D865GVH2 mother board with DDR400 512 ram, what memory is suitable for this board and where do I find this info?

The DDR400 is the fastest that the board can handle, an the maximum capacity is 4Gb. If you have memory slots open, just put the RAM in ther. If none open, then you will have to buy new ones.
