I understand overheating can be frustrating, and would be happy to help with this!
The best option is to make sure the receiver is in a well ventilated area with adequate airflow. Also make sure there is nothing on top of the receiver.

I would be more than happy to help with this. There isn't a place to purchase individual parts for our receivers. The humming may be from the fan still receiving power, but if the receiver itself won't turn on we would have to send out a replacement.

Make sure the receiver is plugged directly into the wall, and not into a power strip or surge protector. If the problem continues, can you send me an email at [email protected] with the account or phone # so I can look into a possible replacement?

I can understand the frustration. The check switch test can take awhile, so it may appear as though it has stalled. If it makes no progress after 5 minutes, then unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and plug it back in. If it continues, let me know!

If this problem only happens on the receiver, and other devices are fine, check the cabling and make sure everything is tight. I would also recommend trying different cables if available.

If all that is good, unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and plug it back in. If it still continues, there might be something wrong with the receiver.

There can be a few reasons for recordings/timers to skip. To verify the exact cause enter the Daily Schedule and from there select the timer that didn't go off. It should give you a status with more information on what happened.

Hello, Daniel Busa with Dish Network customer service here. If you have signal loss, the best thing to do is to unplug the receiver for ten seconds and plug it back in, then check the cabling. If that does not the issue give tech support a call at 1800-333-3474

Bypass that surgeprotector, if one, try another outlet, if that does not work, call Dishnetwork to have it replaced. If under warrantee, you are covered if not, add the service plan, $6 a month and you are covered, free!
