Replacing the heating coil on my MDE2400?

Hi folks ~

My heating element coil broke. Is there just a coil available out there? It seems silly to replace the whole element when it's clearly just a coil that needs to be restrung. I imagine a coil won't run $100+ either. *Someone* out there must make this coil or an equivalent. Thanks!

Hey there! Thanks for the reply.
As per your site this is the part:
    http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_d...

As you can see though, I don't see a replacement coil. Only the full assembly. Any other options out there?

repairs should be performed by an authorized repair person. the heating element coil may be broken and grounding itself the the module housing. if so replace the heating element.

Hi my dryer is only just over 1 year old so of course warrenty is up and it wont heat. it runs and circulates but no heat, my husband cleaned out the vent tube what else can we do?? it cant be major its...

it could be the heating element even though it is just over a year old, i have seen heating elements go out on 3 month old dryers, it also could be a thermostat the best thing to do is make sure it is getting the full 220 volts going to it, if it only has 110 volts the motor will run and have no heat and vise versa, then if that is good get to the heating element and look it over real good most of the time the heating coil will be broke into it wont look burnt just broke

Oven on RF263LXTT2 does not maintain a constant heat. Oven heats, but doesn't seem to continue heating at a constant heat during the baking process. Both coils heat up during the preheat. Seems like once...

The problem looks like a faulty electronic control. When you select baking, the broiling element should not come up.

Before replacing control assembly, test the temp probe located inside the cavity, check the wiring harness to temp probe and elements, and ensure that the fan is working if the oven is fan assisted.

Drying is not heating up.

try replacing thermal fuse. its cheaper than the heater element. this fuse blows when there is restricted air flow over the heating element. meaning clogged vent. you can ohm out this fuse. fuse is located at top left of heater duct with two wire leads going towards it. if its ok then remove heating element and look at coils. usually you can see one broke

No heat from dryer

You have a bad heating element and or a bad high limit switch. Check them for continuity with a volt meter. No continuity, replace the part.

JUST CHANGED MY GE DRYER TO A 4 PRONG PLUG, NOW NO HEAT

Sounds like your heating element is burned out (acually burned threw) when you moved it if the element was weak it may have broke in two along the coil wires.
Happens alot.

No Power

look for an "open" thermostat either on the heater can, or a thermal fuse has gone bad, probably shorted out when the element broke.
