Do you have a cordless phone in the area transmitting at 2.4megahertz?
If you do, that is what is breaking your connection. I found this out by accident.

Using a CAT5 cable, connect your computer to the router, disconnect the power supply from the router, and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Then reconnect the power cord, and open the browser on your computer. Type in the address www.routerlogin.net and press the enter key. This will take to the main setup menu. Set up the router as you wish. To secure your router connection, vist these websites: http://www.labnol.org/internet/secure-your-wireless-wifi-network/10549/ and http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/wireless_secure.htm. Internet downtime same time everyday

Things That Affect Wireless Router Signals
1. Many wireless routers are using the same wirelesschannel. Many manufacturers choose channel 6 as the default. Change to anotherchannel.2. Analogue video senders used to send audio and video toother TVs in the home.3. Microwave ovens emit interference in the 2.4GHz band.4. Wireless speakers and console controllers can causeinterference with the wireless router.5. Bluetooth devices, newer Bluetooth devices can jump todifferent frequencies if there is a connection problem.6. Power cables located near the wireless router can causedropouts and speed reduction.7. Fish tanks will cause massive Wi-Fi shadow on the otherside of the tank from the wireless router. 8. Depending upon the location of large mirrors will reflectwireless signal away your computer.9. Building materials will block wirelesssignals such as plasterboards with metal foil, reinforced concrete walls andfloors. Also objects near the wireless router such as metal filing cabinets andother electrical appliances.

Connect the wireless extender and the wireless router to a surge protection powerboard or better still a small UPS to ensure clean power.

My router is not detecting an internet connection when hooked up to my cable modem. However, when my modem is hooked directly to the computer there is an internet connection

Try power cycling the router.
Disconnect the router from all computers and devices.
Power off the router. Power on the router. Reconnect the router to all computers and devices. Check the Internet connectivity.

I am trying to run it on a pc but with a mac airport router to get my pc wireless as well as my macbook. it keeps going from disconnected to connected every few seconds

To be quite honest, get rid of the NetGear device and get a Belkin. That should resolve the problem. Beside NetGear wireless devices tend to mess up downloads larger than 5 Meg. You problem is most likely the device or the location of your router.

If the router is too far away, go to google and search for wireless parabolic antenna. Build one, and follow the instructions.

Cannot connect to internet through the router. Working fine last week, not working now. What's up? Can you help?

Power off ur Router > disconnect all the cables>
find a button that says RESET or it can be a pinhole> press and hold on it for 30 seconds > reconnect the power and wait till all the lights come on> reconnect all the cables try connection> if still no connection>
do the same for the modem( and do check if a Wired connection is working with both the devices)

Netgear RandeMax 3500 and comcast problem

just double check in the router settings and see the connection speed (not internet ISP speed), it may be set at 108MBPS and your reciever may only be able to connect at 54MBPS.

As you say that, you are able to go online with the modem, connect your modem- router and laptop witha cable and check if you are able to go online with the router wired first, if yes, then the w/ls settings has to be checked..open your w/ls network connection, remove your preferred wireless network and then try to reconnect again and check.. if you are not able to gon online wired with the router, disconnect power cables from modem- router , wait for 10 sec, and reconnect it , wait till all the lights come up and then reconnect, check if you are able to go online if not your router has to be reconfigured,,

plz check and revert back in case of any issues
