Where is the message appears?? on the computer or in the camera ...anyway this is probably cause it was used in another operation system and formatted in a way that it is not supported by the windows..or ..the other way is formatted for windows and not supported in Mac if it is the case...
The thing to do is remove any card from it if it has .and insert it into the computer with a cared reader and right click on its icon and format the card in Fat32 or Fat ..cause it is the most supported by all operation system ..and after that look in the camera's menu and see on the storage feature..options if it has a format option ...and format all the camera memory ..and the card..and use Fat 32 or Fat ...not NTFS even if it is supported..This will erase all files on the camera ..but will make it work in the computer ..
If you find the formatting tool in the camera use it there and do not insert the card into the computer ..I only wanted you to take a look maybe the card is formatted right but was used in another device or operating system and has files that can not be read by the operating system you use...for ex Mac type of files unreadable in windows..and the other way around....just open thecamera and look into the menu ..probably under storage /options you will have formatting tool ..and format them clean ..this will make it compatible ..

if it appears on the camera's screen when you connect it ..that probably you did not plug the cable in the camera in the right plug ..and it tries to see the computer as a storage device ...take a better look at the symbol and plug it where it should...I thought the message is on the computer

I am trying to down load video on dcr-pc101e pal tape to my mac. I have connected via usb but the mac does not seem to recognise the camera. How do I successfully download video to mac?

Use a firewire cable to connect your camera to your Mac. Have your camera at the place you want to start copying and put it in play back mode. Open iMovie in your Mac. In the iMovie window, move the little blue button to the left (to the camera icon). Then click the Import button at the bottom of your picture. If you haven't used iMovie before play around with it. It's a great movie editing program.
Good luck!

Good Day! How will i connect and manage my camera to computer.

For the DCR PC101E you need to use a firewire cable or 1394 cable or the i-Link cable which goes to your computer this is one and the same thing with different names. However if your computer does not have a connection for this you must go and buy a 1394 pci card that you have to connect inside your computer. These usually come with the software drivers for the 1394 card.

Hi There, Can someone please help me! As I mentioned earlier that I am given a SONY DCR PC 101E camcorder. It came with a fire wire cable. May I know how do I download my video to my Windows 7 OS laptop...

You would needs to install the Sony software that came with the camera for transferring the video from your cam to computer.
First you will need to install the software, during installation it will prompt you to connect the camera. Once you connect the camera thru the Firewire port the installation will proceed and you will be able to download the Video from Camera to the computer.

For any additional assistance feel free to write back.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

Sony DCR-HC52E connected with Firewire not detected in moviemaker

The Camcorder will flash the DV IN message as soon as the i.LINK/Firewire cable is connected to the Camcorder.

If you are getting the DV IN message then it indicates that the Camcorder recognize the connection.

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Computer.

Refer this link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893

If you are not getting the DV IN message as soon as the i.LINK cable is connected with the Camcorder then the issue may be with either the Camcorder or with the i.LINK cable.

Try resetting the Camcorder or try with different i.LINK cable. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD screen of the Camcorder. (You will be able to locate the RESET button by opening the LCD Screen. The Camcorder should be switched ON when you reset the unit. Press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object).

NOTE: Resetting the Camcorder will reset the settings of the Camcorder to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camcorder.

If the issue still persists after resetting the Camcorder and with different i.LINK cable then your Camcorder requires service to resolve the issue.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sony dcr-pc101e c31-22 is flashing and camera wont work

Hi, not sure if C31:22 is the same or similar as the error code C31:23, but I had C31:23 and seem to have fixed it....for now. after trying all types of battery removals, the thing that fixed it was:

eject the tape
Gently wiggle (with your finger) the black roller with the thin white tube as its spindle
Pressed reset button
re-installed the tape

The error disappeared and has not been seen since.
