    Hi Leecom,
    Thanks for your detailed instructions.
I did enter safe mode, chkdsk etc.
When rebooting the chkdsk took less than one minute, just saying everything ok. I have a feeling that the disk what not checked very well.
I am not waiting to see if the freeze continues.

I ran the chkdsk twice. First it completed in a minute (obvious I did something wrong) second time it ran for a few hours and reported a few problems that were fixed.

After rebooting the machine I still get same problem. Suddenly the Vista machine freeze. Nothing works. Screen is stuck, no networking, dead.

Hi,

System freezes can be caused by many different things but are more likely to be caused by the hard drive having bad sectors or the system files are corrupt.

To troubleshoot the system files and hard drive i recommend that you boot the machine up in safe mode. To do this restart the computer and repeatedly tap the F8 key. When you get to the sub menu select "Safe Mode" and press enter.

You will see a boot leader apear (white text) on screen, wait until it loads the welcome screen.

Once inside safe mode you will notice that you have no sound, internet connection, desktop background or graphics. This is because in safe mode the system only loads basic drivers so the above mentioned are dissabled allowing you to work in safe mode.

Click on the Start menu (orb) and in the search pane type cmd and hit enter. A command line window will come on-screen.
Type in that command window chkdsk /f /r and hit the enter key.

You will see information about the volume with a message that the volume cannot be locked, would you like to schedule a disk check next time the system restarts? type Y and hit enter and then type exit and hit enter.

The window will close so then restart the computer.

When the system restarts let it boot normally and now the system will check on the hard drive and check system files for you, if it finds any problems it will fix them itself.

This proceedure can take anything up to 2-3 hours to complete so please be patient.

Good luck and if there is anything else i can help you with please post back.

Regards.

    Hi,

Next you have to look at the hardware itself like the memory for example.

Also the operating system could also be degraged to the point that a factory restore could be in order.

Try to boot up in safe mode, back up all your data to a storage drive and then proceed with a restore.

My computer runs really slow, freezes, internet explorer hardly ever works. help!!

There is no such thing as a windows vista machine. You can install different operating systems on different machines. Your problem is most likely that you're missing drivers for the peripherals.
Download a program called "driver easy" and run it. It will tell you what drivers are missing, once you get all the drivers installed you should find things work better, like once you get your network running then internet explorer will stop having problems.

what windows version computer are you using, as vista drivers only work with a vista computer, if you are using another windows ie win7 or win 10 you need a windows driver for them. some driver that are not compatible can cause conflicts in other software, you will need to delete driver from the driver device settings under device manger.

Before doing anything start your PC and keep pressing F8 slowly. A screen will appear with options choose Last Known Good Configuration to see if it cures your problem.

Logitec V270 bluetooth mouse freezes

I found no solution but plenty of similar complaints on the V270 on other than just Vista machines. I will suggest finding another model mouse and check it for Vista compatibility before buying.
I am using a Logitech M-RBB_DEL4 mouse made for Dell, it's bluetooth and works flawlessly on my XP machine along with the keyboard it came with. I will try the one I just ordered on my Vista machine when the BT Keyboard and Mouse arrive.
