I cannot get the pvot joint to go to full open

I can only move the pivot to the first stop. It will not go to the full open position.

Can you Regulate the Engine Speed Using the Governor Arm? If Yes, then Reset the Governor. **To Reset the Governor; Loosen the Governor Arm Bolt and Turn the Governor Shaft Clockwise Until it Stops. Using the Governor Arm Hold the Carburetor to Full Throttle. Now with the Shaft Full Clockwise and the Governor Arm and Carburetor Held at Full Throttle, Tighten the Governor Arm Bolt. If the Engine Still Runs Full Throttle, then Reverse the Rotation of the Governor Shaft, but Still Hold the Carburetor at Full Throttle with the Governor Arm. If it Still Runs at Full Throttle, then Check the Internal Governor.** If you Can Not Regulate the Engine Speed Using the Governor Control Arm, then Check the Carburetor Throttle Valve. If the Throttle Control Valve (sometimes called a Flap or Plate) Mounting Screws Came Out of the Control Valve, then you will have No Control Over the Engine Speed. How do I remove glove box?


Behind the glove box is the cabin air filter. Easy to change if you're in the mood when you have the box out. To remove the glove box first open it up all the way. On the right side you will see a black plastic rod. This rod is what allows the box to slowly open rather than just falling open.

The rod has a loop on the end and is held on the box by that split knob the loop rests over. Close the glove box slightly to take tension off the rod and squeeze the knob to make it smaller. This allows you to pull the loop end off. Now the only thing holding the box in are the two molded stops on the left and right sides of the box. To get the box past these stops reach in and hold the box by the upper edges of each side. Move the box about an inch in, as if you were closing it. Now squeeze the upper edges inwards and move the box open past the normal stopping position.

Since you are squeezing the sides this allows the box to move past the normal stop position. On the back side of the rear of the box you should be able to see the two pivot points on which the bottom rear edge rests. You should be able to just lift the box toward yourself off these two pivot points.

Just reverse these steps to put it back in.

Should you feel the urge to live life out on the edge for a few moments, you can do all this without first emptying the contents of the glovebox! Hope my description of these steps is clear enough and helps.

Why am I getting cool air conditioned air out of drivers side, and hot air out of passenger side (want cool ac on passenger side also).


There are 2possibles ,1. The heat / cool slide control is defective, it is not possible to repair. Most likely the servo motor that opens and closes the air vent that gives you heat or cool is stuck. Open your glove box and you will see 2 rubber tabs that hold the door at the open and down position. Push down on your glove box door until it swings all the way down (this wil be past normal open) up inside you will see a metal rod affixed to a arm that pivots via the servo left is full vent(cool) right is full heat. Push your hot/cold heat selector and see if it moves. It may not be moving its full extension. If your not sure push it right and you should get heat push it left and you should get cool check YouTube this is a common problem for this era of Buicks, good luck Bret

How do I fix a bi-fold closet door that came off the track


I'm guessing that you are referring to the wheel guide on the floating panel. You may have to remove the door completely in order to re-install it. At the pivot points (upper & lower) next to the jam; the upper one may or may not be spring loaded, the bottom one is threaded usually with a beveled head with teeth on it. You'll need a flat-bar or someone to lift up on the door as you thread the pivot bolt back into the door, allowing enough play to pop it off of the seat plate. The bi-fold will have to be open(the panels flat across). Tilt the bottom of the doors out, this will allow you to re-set both the upper pivot in its bracket and the guide roller on the floating panel in the track at the same time. Re-position the doors in the opening with the lower pivot over its bracket and re-adjust(thread down) the lower pivot until it holds the door up in the track. (Take care as to the position of the lower pivot in its bracket as it also adjusts the clearance for the door to swing/pivot next to the jam!!) {The upper pivot bracket(in the track) can also be adjusted for closeness to the jam}. It is important that these pivot points be plum(straight up& dn) They can cause the bi-fold to tilt; or cause the roller guide on the forward door to either move up, or dip down as it travels out to the open position.

Hood will not shut


If you mean the hood will not lock down in a closed position the following applies.
It can be due to a stuck hood release cable or latch pivot that is out of sequence. With the cable problem, the cable remains pulled back in an OPEN position and the latch pivot will remain in an unlock position under the hood. For the latch pivot, the pivot has a V notch and is suppose to lay in an open position in order for the hood striker to trip it into a locked position. You may not be lined up, basically the pivot is flipped into a closed position and the striker hits its' top instead of its' V slot.

Rust or a broken pivot return spring can be the causes for this defect.

If you mean the hood will not move down from an open position, then that is a different problem. The small lift cylinders on each side of the hood may be jammed. Or the hood hinge could be defective. Be careful, some hoods are made of aluminum and bend easily if forced.

Wiper problem


If the linkage is failing to move smoothly it will require lubrication.I would recommend using Heavy Duty Silicone spray lube or PB Blaster.

Spray on each of the pivot joints and try to move the wiper arms a few times and then relube as needed. This assembly should move with almost no resistance.

To adjust wiper pivot arms, refer to Wiper Blade and Pivot Arm Adjustment in this section.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

How do i check the ball joints 99 xplorer 4x4


Hello;
To check ball joints is relatively easy. There is a load carrying ball joint and a pivot ball joint. The pivot joint gets minimal wear. To check the load ball joint, jack up the wheel to be checked. With about an 1" of clearance off the ground, place your hand on top of the tire and wityh a long sturdy bar under the tire, move the bar up and down. Feel for lateral movement at the wheel. you want to make sure that the wheel bearings are good and the movement is slight if any.

Power is low. How to charge it?


The pivot has to be in the straight position and the charger plugs in the joint (it's hidden in the bent position)
