Hi,

Listen carefully to the HDD bay of the CF-51, If the "Clicking" sound is coming from that area then it is possible that the hard drive is failing causing the whole laptop to freeze up.

If that is the case then you're looking at a new or replacement hard drive.

Regards.

I have no sound, I think I need to reinstall the driver, how and where do i do that?

First make sure you haven't done something basic, like mute or turn down the sound (Double-click the Volume icon in the System Tray to get the Volume Control settings).

Next, look in the Device Manager to see whether drivers are still installed and working for the sound (Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager button, Sound video and game controllers).

Drivers are available for download on several websites including

How to replace cmos battery in a Panasonic CF-51 laptop. Need to know location in laptop and can not find manual that shows it.

If you need to ask "how", you should STOP and take your computer to a qualified technician, because opening-up a laptop is not an "end-user" repair.

Wireless connectivity

possible reasons that it is "off"

Physical switch on outside of case that has a turn on and turn off function. Make sure this is turned on.

Go to network places and find the connection that says wireless (or something similiar), it should say Enabled, if not then enable it.

Panasonic CF-51 Toughbook Fn keys don't work at all

The following website contains the needed drivers:

https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pc/cgi-bin/itn/toughbook/dl01.cgi

Select your model of CF-51 Toughbook, but you MUST be specific. There are about nine variations of the CF-51 so you must use the right drivers.

Download the hkeyapp, hkeyset, and hotkey files and unpack all files. Use the default unpack locations. If you download the files for a laptop version that is not your own, when you try to run any of these files the computer will tell you that the file is not for your model. If the files successfully unpack then you know you have the right files.

For hkeyset and hkeyapp you must run the set-up applications in the unpacked folders.

Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager and go to Other Devices.

The Hotkeys will appear as an "Unknown Devices" so if there is more than one, right click and choose "Update Driver".

Select "Install driver from specific location" and direct it to "C:\util2\drivers\hotkey" folder.

The computer will find the file and install the driver after which point you must restart the computer.

Hope this helps. It took me a while to figure this stuff out on my own so hope it speeds up somebody else's attempt.
