Need to print with only black ink

Well this is simple, there is an option in printing preferences, you need to check that .. there are options to print in just black ink or all colors. You can change it from there. ricky8.png

My HP 3550 won't print black when it is out of a color.

restore the properties.... set as "print in grey scale" or "print color as b/w images"...
also if the print become less or more dark you can change the settings to print whit more intensity or less...
there is no necesary change all your documents as "watter ink" only change the print options to fade to black

I want to use black ink only and stop wasting color ink

Hi,
Go to Control Panel->Printers. Then right click on your printer and select printing preferences. There you will see an option like Print in Grayscale or Black and White only.
However, please note that some printers although they are set to print in grayscale they also use the color cartridge and some even don't allow you to print in grayscale if the color cartridge is empty. Why is that? Manufacturer's way of charging you more money.

My printer has an almost full black cartridge but will not print.

Check the ink lines, the printer head might be clogged, If thats not fixing anything then check your printer settings on the computer and remove the color option. Changing it to black and white can somtimes just be from color, not just black.

Won't print because color cartridge is empty and l don't need color

Try changing printing preferences/properties. Click on option for color, then click on box for "black ink only" or similar. Try now. If you still cannot print after changing preferences/properties, you will need to replace color ink cartridge due to manufacturer's built-in software that prevents printing when ink is low. Great for the ink companies!!!

I just installed a Lexmark 2500. It came with an ink cartridge (color) I purchased a black cartridge and installed it but it does not seem to be working. How do you darken the ink on this printer. It seems...

start
control panel
printer and fax
right click your printer, choose properties
go tab by tab and look for print quality and then try
something like this
choose econo mode, or ink saving mode to start.

try to print in grayscale mode and use only the black ink cartridge.

that should be your new default, and you don~t have to change it from winthin other programs

I want to print with black ink only. Where do I

what are you trying to print?
You will need to change your printer settings ... go to the properties of the printer and then select printing prefrences there should be an option to just print black and white only ...

what are you trying to print?

Also this model will not print if either cartridge is empty ... black and colors are necessary to be full .. but you can change and set the default to be black only

I have a canon MP600 I put a new #5 black ink cartridge in it, now it wo'nt print black. it shows full but only prints colors

Try wetting the bottom of the cartridge to see if ink will come out, it may just be dry, you can do this by placing the bottom into a little water or onto a wet kleenex, let me know how this works.
