If a fuse does not blow when a short is present then the wire or unit will catch fire. You have a dead short most likley in the subwoofer. If you unplug the subwoofer and the fuse does not blow then your unit failed.

What is the voltage and wattage of the Cerwin Vega E-715 speaker fuse?


Speaker fuses are rated in Amps. If you cant find the specs on your speaker via google, (I couldn't find anything on the fuse.) start with a 2 Amp 'slow-blow' fuse. That should work at low to medium volumes. If you find it blows at low volumes, move up to a 4 or 5 Amp fuse. E-715 is a big speaker, (handles 400W!) so starting at 2 amps should be pretty safe.

Ignition Fuse keeps blowing


Hi Jeff , in what fuse box is this 10 amp ign. fuse located ? I am looking at a power distribution diagram and i see a IGN 3 10amp fuse located in the I/P fuse box ! Is this the fuse that blows ? I see where you replaced the 10 amp with a 30amp . That is never a good idea , you don't want to make your problems worst . Melt wiring harness , could start a fire . Do you know how to do electrical trouble shooting ? How to use a wiring diagram , power distribuition diagram ? That fuse is hot in the run , powers the rear Heat / A/C , automatic level relay, ESC - electronic suspension control module , rear wheel steering control module , Plus someother thing's depending which vehicle , Y91 - ULT . Could a bad cable connection make a fuse blow in my fender passport 250, or cuase any problemmwith ouput from my speakers...?


A shorted speaker cable could cause this... however, what you do is to replace the fuse BUT wire a 150 Watt lamp in series with the power input... This acts as a resetable fuse for testing. If the lamp stays lit, you still have a failure.

Just received your request for some information regarding Bose 501's......... Series III. Your looking for te manufacturers part # for the fuse which is in line with the woofer? The fuses used ON the Series III Crossovers (hard wired/soldered directly to crossover board/componants) have been Identified as BUSS #2494, 2amp, Quick-Blow Glass Tube Type Fuses. The fuse which is in-series with the woofer & the fuse which is in-series with the pair of tweeters are the same! In theory this means that the woofer is capable of twice the wattage of the tweeters due to the tweeters being wired in series with each other..... which in turn divides the power beween the two equaly. On the woofer circuit there is only the one speaker or voice coil obsorbing the power. The woofer circuit being wired in parallel with the tweeter circuit again splits the power between the two cuircuits..... so in an ideal situation the woofer sees 50% total input power while the tweeters each see 25% total input power;;;; totaling 100% total. The way Bose has fused them in the Series III's is such that each branch can obsorb a total of 2 amps before shutting down each indivigual branch. This can be adventageous..... should peak power be exceeded causing loss of full load abruptly, Amplifier Power Output Transistors usually blow..... however when only half of the full cuircuit shuts down due to peak power exeeding limits causing one fuse to open (blow) ... the actual impedance (resistance) of the speaker increases protecting the Amplifiers Output Transistors! Thats the reason for the 2 fuses. Each of them are identical. They are soldered into place.... via the wire which is attached to each end of the fuse. (Note; the fuse "kit" Bose is trying to sell you is an external in line fuse holder for each speaker {costing 1.29 each} & 2 fuses for each holder, One for now & One for Later aftr it blows {costing 1.00 each}..... costing Bose 6.58, neting Bose $13.42 Profit!!!! Keep in mind that this fuse WILL NOT FIX YOUR PROBLEM EITHER! DUE TO THE FUSE WHICH IS PRESENTLY BLOWN HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED!!!!! ) The one that has to be replaced is on the crossover... not between the Amplifier & the Speaker Enclosure. Tools required = 1 Long Big Straight Blade Screwdriver to pry off speaker grill, 1 Phyllips Screwdriver to remove screws seccuring woofer to encloser... be carefull not to damage/tear gasket, 1 pair side cutters to cut blown fuse out of crossover curcuit, 1 pair needle nose pliers to attach NEW fuse to crossover curcuit, 1 soldering Iron & a small piece of solder to re-solder fuses leads securly to crossover curcuit. ( replace gasket, woofer, screws, & speaker grill. ENJOY! I have an spl gorilla series 1250watt amp that blows fuses


REMOVE THE RCA INPUTS AND DISCONNECT THE SPEAKERS, THEN POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP WITH THIS NO INPUT, NO SPEAKER LOAD CONDITION. IF IT STILL BLOWS THE FUSE, THEN IT WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. IF IT BLOWS THE FUSE BEFORE TURNING IT ON, THEN YOUR PROBLEM IS IN THE POWER SUPPLY SECTION. IF IT BLOWS THE FUSE AFTER ATTEMPTING TO TURN IT ON, THEN YOUR PROBLEM IS PROBABLY IN THE OUTPUT SECTION. ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE P1'S ARE REALLY NOT RATED FOR THAT MUCH POWER AND YOU MAY HAVE DAMAGED THE VOICECOILS. BEFORE REINSTALLING THE AMPLIFIER, MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE SPEAKERS FOR SHORTED VOICECOILS OR YOU WILL POSSIBLY DAMAGE THE AMPLIFIER AGAIN. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

I have a dual XIA3145 580 watt amp that keeps blowing fuses


Generally, this indicates that there's at least one shorted output transistor.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the 'amplifier's speaker terminals' and disconnect RCA/signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally, the speakers/wiring need to be checked. If it still blows the fuses, the amp almost certainly has shorted output transistors and will need to be repaired.

I'd recommend using two 10 amp fuses. The amp will power up with 10 amp fuses if there is no problem. If there is a problem, there's less of a chance of doing more damage by using the 10 amp fuses.

Klipsch ksw subwoofer wont power on


The power supply switching transistors are likely fried. Dangerous high voltages involved. I would remove the plate and send it to Klipsch for repair.

Wondering why im blowing fuses


The most common reason for an amp (in good working order) to blow fuses is a speaker load that's impedance is too low. You may need to rewire your speakers.
