Are you still having trouble with your PS3?

  • m_ting May 28, 2010

yes was in the middle of game play and it shut down i waited till next day it turned on booted up loaded game for 5 mins than shut down the next time it only stayed on the main menu apx 3 mins with a message that it was not shut down correctly. Now it will not turn on at all. tries but just switches itself off with a flashing red flashing into green, possibly what could be called a dirty yellowish colour. Not sure hope its not the YLOD.

  • m_ting Jun 01, 2010

hi thanks for answering but just wanted to know what the message meant and how to fix it if fixable at all? as this was not told to the person using it that it needed to be shut down with rmote ,i think that error message started the shutting down process and now i am too scared to turn it on, shall i cheack fuses ? and where are they situated please are these easy to get to??

Dont use the switch when your game is saving or anything is downloading because you could corrupt the saved game/download (I don't think it'll let you turn it off from the front button when it's writing to the hard drive- the switch in the back actually cuts off the power.).

Take care.

    Hi,
Either power supply problem or blown surface

mount fuse on the main board. First check all SMD

fuses on the main board, and the fuse on the power supply board. If the
    power
supply board fuse has blown replace it and try again, if it blows again
    you need
to replace the power supply. If the power supply seems OK check all SMD
fuses on the main board. There are 7 on the
    V3 and about
    a dozen on the V4 / V5 / V6.

"When the power status light flashes red after using the
PS3 system for 3 or more minutes and shuts off, the PS3 system has
possibly over heated. This may be caused by poor ventilation or the
    vents may be blocked."

    "If this happens:

Check to see if the vents are blocked. If the vents are dusty, vacuum
the vents to remove the dust.

    • If the PS3 system is in an
enclosed area like a bookshelf or entertainment center, move it to a
    more open area.

    • Leave the PS3 system off for 30 minutes
    to let it cool down.

    • If you continue to have issues, you
will have to send the system in for service."
    Hope this will help...

    Good luck...

There is a disc in my ps3 however it won't eject. It flashes red light when I try to remove. I have tried to hold down eject for 10 secs however this step is not working for me. Any ideas? I would...

Please try the following to remove your disc :

Turn the PS3 off completely

Hold the eject button.

While holding the eject button turn the PS3 on at the back.

This method should make the PS3 force eject the disc. Don't worry about the fan going really fast, this is normal.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Not shut down properly massage and flashing red light?

Sadly there isn't much the average user can do to fix this problem.

It's hardware related. You can try powering on the system with the hard drive removed, but it's VERY rare that will solve your problem.

Check out this guide here and this one here.

Those are DIY guides but if you're not up for the challenge I would highly recommend getting the machine fixed direct through Sony.

You can contact them @ 1-800-345-SONY.

They charge a flat 150 rate for all repairs.

Best of luck!

What is wrong with my xbox it says error 65?

Error 65: DVD Drive Error.... DVD Timeout, Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot.

Flashing red:
1.the av cable cannot be detected
Make sure that the AV cable is correctly connected to the Xbox 360 console.
Disconnect the AV cable from the Xbox 360 console, and then reconnect the AV cable to the Xbox 360 console.
If the four flashing red lights continue to flash, try wiping the metal area of the AV pack with a dry cloth. The metal area is the end that plugs into the console. Wipe the metal area thoroughly, and then try the AV Pack again.
If the AV cable is correctly connected but the four red lights are still flashing, substitute a different AV cable if you have one available.
2.general hardware failure
Try restarting the console.
If restarting the console does not resolve the behavior, follow these steps:
Turn the console off.
Unplug all the power and AV cables from the console.
Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
Firmly reconnect all the cables.
Turn on the console.
If these steps do not resolve the behavior, turn the console off, remove the hard drive, and then turn on the console. If the 3x Red LED error light is no longer displayed, turn the console off, re-attach the hard drive, and then turn on the console.
Also examine the lights on the power supply. When you turn on the console, the power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the RoL flash red.

The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:
All four lights flashing - 0
One light flashing - 1
Two Lights flashing - 2
Three lights flashing - 3

0001 power supply problem
0002 Network Interface problem
0003 Power problem could be the PSU could be the GPU/CPU, somehow the console isn't getting clean power from the power supply.
0010 over heating
0011 over heating - If you are receiving this error after disassembling your console make sure to all 8 of the heatsync screws are tightened securely to the board/heatsink holes.
0012 over heating
0013 over heating
0021 DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard.

My playstation won't eject the disc, it just beeps like there is no disc in there,

have you tried holding down the eject button for 20 sec
it should do a force eject the fan in the rear will triple in rotational speed thats how you will know if your console is even trying to do it
but turn off your console via the rear switch and then turn it back on so you see the red light
while the red light is one go ahead and hold the eject button till you hear the fans if 20 to 30 sec go by it might not work but this should solve your problem hoep i was helpful rate high~!

4 red lights flashing

Hi there,

The TV screen or monitor remains black when you start an Xbox 360 console.

This behavior may occur with or without a game disc in the disc tray. The console appears to be on because the green power light illuminates and the fan continues to operate. However, the screen remains black.
