SOURCE: Remote Controller

Hold the remote up yo a video camera and you will see code flashing from the LED in the remote. If it is dark, the remote is faulty. A common fault is for the ceramic resonator(orange pack) either dry joints(it is a resonator) fractured wires, or just fail with no reason, thus rendering the clock for the main proc. not working. Another common fault is the LED being dry jointed. or the LED faulty. All of these easy to fix. Sometimes the power supply may fail to the detector on the front panel of the amp, The detectors sometimes go. all these things to be checked, but check the remote for infrared light with a camera first. Good Luck, a rating of "FixYa" for these technical tips would help my profile, Cheers

SOURCE: Finding replacement Power Supply for Altec Lansing

I did the same! Thanks for suggesting a call to Customer Support (800)258+3288. The guy didn't seem overly pleased to help, but he did promise to send me a new power supply. Also, he said that they don't make the iM7 anymore, but I had already found out that the iM9 uses the same power supply. I, too, will wait and see.

I have one also and I am fairly certain the battery can't be replaced. Once it dies you have to replace the speaker.

Power cord makes a chirping sound and won't supply power to M602. Do I need to buy a new power cord and if so where?

My experience is that when AC adapters start making strange sounds, they're no longer usable (or at least reliable), and need to be replaced.

I'd suggest calling Altec Lansing to see where you can get a replacement power supply.

Remote Control Altec Lansing IM600 - Battery

Turn the remote upside down. At the bottom, there is a slot that opens the battery tray and a series of grooves that are part of a clip that releases the tray. Insert the fingernail of your thumb into the grooves and the fingernail of your index finger into the slot. Ease the grooves (clip) toward the middle of the remote and slide the tray out. There is a ridge in the tray that matches the battery only when the battery is in the proper position. Slide the tray back in. If the remote doesn't work, you've probably inserted the battery in the wrong position.
