My 3/4 HP Emerson pool pump keeps tripping breaker

The pump started up for about 10 seconds then cut off. It's using 110. I took it to the local pool supply store and they said it was working fine. I had a electrician come over and hook it back up but it did the same thing.
He then checked out all the wires/breakers. They were okay! Then he changed the pool voltage to 220 the hooked to a 220 breaker and it stayed on but barley pumped out water flow in the pool. Then became super hot real fast. So we disconnected it.

Thanks,
Rodney Green

You did not say what the amp draw was nor what the amp rating on the pump motor was. Also you need to have the running volts tested to see if there is a voltage drop.

Pentair pool heater keeps tripping breaker when i turn on

When you switch it on, watch the breaker trip. Does it slowly move to off? That is a lazy breaker and needs replacing. People use breakers as switches and they are not made for that, so they wear out.

If the breaker snaps straight to off, you have a short to earth. Look for water around the electrics particularly at the pump.

If you can't see anything obvious, call out a pool electrician to diagnose and fix.

There are other ideas on the link.

I have a Jandy stealth series pump and this morning it was not running. The breaker was tripped and when I reset it and turned it on the motor only hums for a few seconds and then the breaker trips...

This sounds like the motor has seized up. You will most likely need to replace at least the motor and maybe the complete pump assembly.
You can take the pump into a local motor shop and see if they can rebuild the motor for you.

I just bought a emerson motor 1 hp for my inground pool. It was installed on 5/11/2011. I have been running it for about 10 hours a day ever since. I turned it on about 10:00 this morning. I was sitting at...

It could be out on safety (thermal protected). I would expect this should reset at any time between 10 minutes and an hour depending of a ton of variables. Since the motor is less than a week old, my suggestion is to speak with the reseller you purchased the motor from. If you mess with it before then, there will be no recourse through the reseller and maybe none from the manufacturer.

Is this motor set up for 110 or 220? and ... is it properly wired? Double check before you call anyone to see it.

Double check your breaker ... is this a standard breaker or a GFI? Your pool is fully bonded? The motor has been bonded to the rest of the grid/system? Move the breaker handle to the full off position and then back to full on (make sure the load is OFF before you do this ... then turn the pump back on.

Let me know what you find ...

I have an Emerson 1081 Pool Pump Motor , every time I turn it on it trips the circuit breaker , is the motor bad ?

Well, something is wrong. Either the pump or the wiring from the switch to the pump. Pull the pump and take it to a motor shop and have them check it out.

Motor runs at low speed and trips breaker within 10 seconds

The motor is bad. It overheats inside and the contacts aren't releasing and this trips the breaker to prevent more damage, You can reset it because it had time to cool down and the contacts have released.
