Before you proceed forward, check the mouse battery and verify it's output is accurate. Replace if necessary. Remove the sensor from the usb port, reset everything on the mouse, again reconnect them. (I would like to suggest you to swap the Usb port on the laptop) Press the Connect button on the mouse. If there's no signal (red/blue light on the mouse), then it's not synching to the sensor which is connected to the computer, you'll need to again check the battery connectors. Make sure there's no obstruction between the two devices (sensor{blue adaptor} and the mouse). If any drivers software comes with the unit, uninstall it and reinstall them. Hope this will help you. I am ready to assist you further. Good luck.

It is now the 28 May. I waited overnight as I didn't know if it took some time for you to answer.

I have already tried what you suggested. The batteries are correctly installed because the blue light flashes on the trackwheel, and the red light flashes underneath. If I change the batteries round they don't work, so I am sure they are in correctly. There is no on/off button on the mouse, so I can't press it. I have tried the sensor in all three USB ports, in each of them it briefly flashes a green light when it is pressed in. There was no software with the mouse. The mouse is about 10cm fom the sensor and there is nothing in its way. Everything is correct - it just doesn't connect. Is there something simple that I have omitted? Please help!

Do I need to shut down the computer and log on again. That's the only thing I haven't tried.

Did you get my response to your response which I submitted this morning? I don't want to have to take this mouse back to the shop because it is a chore, but I( eed a mouse for my laptop. I woulod rather get this one working if it is not intrisically faulty.

I am sorry if i made you waited for so long, in fact, your post is locked to another expert, so i couldn't answer. I got this last post few minutes back. Well let's do the last option available. Reset both the mouse and the sensor (receiver). To do this, Press "reset" button as shown below on both the devices:

Restart your computer, and reconnect them while you power on the System. Press the "Connect" button on the mouse after the system (Pc) booted. And also make sure, there's no obstruction at the opening "door" of the mouse "Radio Frequency's" {a tiny opening at the top end of the mouse which receives the signal from the receiver (sensor)}.
If this doesn't solve your problem, there must be hardware failure, maybe the sensor or the mouse. I have no choice to help further with it. This is the complete procedure for troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard with receiver. I hope you understand.
Anyway, I wish you very good luck once again. Thank you for using fixya.

Saitek Cyborg PM42 mouse can't adjust his lenght like it used to...

So your mouse can't adjust his length.
Most mice cannot change their length or width.
But if you go to the Saitek site and download and install the Windows driver for your new version of windows, maybe he will be able to adjust his length.

Mouse won't work

Go into start>control panel>mouse>and check your settings make sure they didn't get changed some kind of way. You will see you can set it to how fast or slow you want it...second go into device manager to make sure there is no yellow! next to your mouse that means it needs an updated driver. Let me know if you have any questions..
