Which format you should use is determined by the computer you're going to use to read the information after it's saved.Burn any kind of file and use the disc in a Windows XP or later computer. Any kind of disc that works with your disc burner. If you have a CD-RW drive, you can use CD-R or CD-RW media. If you have a DVD burner, you should check the manual to see what kind of discs it supports & Format, Live File System. If you have burned CDs using Windows XP, you are already familiar with the Mastered format. The latest version of Windows offers a new format, called Live File System. Discs that use the Live File System format are often more convenient because you can copy selected files immediately and as often as you want, as if the disc were a floppy disc or USB flash drive. On the other hand, Live File System discs can’t be used in all computers and devices.

Sabrent external floppy reader is asking me to format my floppy disk. how can a format it without deleting my files on floppy disk?

Your floppy disk drive may be defective. Also, Some floppy drives are manufactured differently. Your best bet is to find another floppy drive to read your floppy disk. You can try to take it to the nearest computer store and ask them to read it for you. If they can read it at the computer store? The Sabrent drive you received if bad. If they cannot read it the floppy is bad. If the floppy is bad you can try to download free data recovery software to attempt to recover your data, files etc. Good luck

My dual wont play cds or dvds

its simple to see where is problem.
1st read one more time formats of audio and video disks ,i mean codec what ur device officially read.(like wma,mp3,mp4,theora.. etc)
2nd then if device can not read disk for which ur sure that are recorded with supported codec or to say in supported format, then leans can be dirty or something is stucked inside, anyway lead u to open and clean laser reading lens inside, with any method.
3rd if disk are recorded in format and codec what that particular device can read, and read even just one disk, then lens are not point to look, then disks can be scrached, damaged or simply no more readable..what can be double checked on some other device.
4th if urs disks are for sure in non-supported format then easy and for free u can convert them in supported format(supported codec) on some computer with most of audio and video converter software, and then record them again, even some software can mannage to read and then record(burn) disks which are not readable any more to normal cd&dvd&bd players.
5th its good to know that is legal and good way to have backup copy of audio and video collection,if what is in use get damaged with tear and wear,or else..so favorite things can be burned or else reused again.

My WD My Passport external Hard Drive ! TB formatted for Mac is not reading my files

A Windows PC computer will not read files on the WD hard drive that has been formatted on a MAC.
The fix.
Copy your photos onto the MAC computer then remove the WD hard drive and connect it to your Windows PC and format the WD hard drive in FAT32 file system.
After formatting has been completed remove the WD hard disk and connect it to the MAC computer. The MAC can read and write to a Windows FAT32 formated hard disk. You can now copy the photos from the MAC to the WD hard disk. When copying is complete, remove the WD hard drive and connect the WD hard drive to your Windows PC and you can now copy the photo from the WD hard disk to your Windows PC.

I want to format a cd read only disk as a UDF file. How is it done

If it's a READ-ONLY as you say then absolutely nothing can be written on it, including a file system.
If it's a Recordable (once only) disk then it can't be formatted.
For a disk to be formatable it must be ReWritable.  The option to format (and which format to use) a cd-rw is in the menu of the burning soft or use Nero's special formatting tool InCD. A DVD-RW is formatted to UDF by default.

Floopy drive

Sounds like you have a bad floppy drive. If you are unable to read a disk and it wants to format it so it can read it try letting it format a floppy with no data on it or with floppy you don't care about. If it can format and you can read and write to it, then bad disks. If not then you know you have a bad floppy drive. Replace and enjoy.

Uknown format

When using your MP3 player for the first time you should format it. Formatting prepares the disk (storage medium) for any reading or writing. It erases all information on the disk, and tests for any bad sectors or errors. Below are the steps for formatting your player: -Connect the disk storage (MP3 player) to your computers USB port. If the computer pops up a window asking what do you want windows to do? Click cancel. -Right click on My Computer and click on Explore. Look for the drive Removable Disk (E:) [The letter drive may vary depending on your computer] This is your MP3 player. -Right click on the drive Removable Disk (E:) and click Format… A small window will pop up displaying Format Removable Disk (E:) Click Start. Read the warning and click OK. Format is complete. This procedure can be done occasionally to erase all data on the disk storage.
