I've got a Shure wireless mic, not sure what model. When you move it and when it is put back in the mic stand there is a load pop/bang and the mic switches itself off. Any ideas??

Hi,

Maybe your battery is loosing contact, one of the most common problems with the older Shure models.
If there's a 9 volt battery in it, just bent the clips a little or put something behind the clips so that the contact is for sure.

regards,
Gerard

Shure SM58 is not a wireless microphone, so clarify me the exact model for your wireless device in order to help you.

1) Try changing the channel to see if this has any effect.
2) Make certain the receiver is out in the open and visible from where the talker is standing.

Battery connection on my Shure SM58

Hiya,
I know they could have come have come up with something a little more durable!!

What we used to do is put a piece of double side tape at the back (the thick 2mm spongy one) and then put paper or something over the front so the battery doesnt stick to it, battery then has alot more pressure on it. The tape sticks into the back of the mic. Its a bit stoneage, but worked pretty well.

Best of luck

Mic feedback. I sing on a shure beta 58 mic, into a 350 watt peavey amp, into 2 - 200 watt peavey speakers. My band is loud, and I simply cannot get my mic loud enough for them to hear me, without constant...

It sounds as though you are pointing the peavey at the band in a practice situation? If so make sure that each speaker is at about 60 degree angle to either side of the back of the mike (you facing the speakers), most mics reject feedback when the the user is directly in front of a monitor, but Beta 58s' tend to feedback more in that situation. Alternatively (if it is a practice room situation), why not place the speakers behind the band at 60 degrees each and turn to face the band.

Access switches

I assume you have a wireless mic. Disassembly is dependent on the model of the wireless. However, typically, you would pop off the switches and then remove the C ring that is under the cartridge.

Shure wireless UHF microphone

Make sure the microphone and the receiver are still broadcasting/receiving on the same channel.
Check that all of the appropriate connections are right from the receiver to the mixing board are connected as well.
I hope this helps!
God Bless you!

OK....does it scratch when the cable going into the mic moves, or when the cable going into the connector @ the beltpack? Either way, Shure has an exceptional service policy on all of their mics. They have very reasonable prices for bringing their mics back to factory spec. If you are a touring musician who needs it ASAP, they are good at expediting the process. I always advise clients who use wireless mics to put a fresh Duracell battery in before EVERY performance. I am not an endorsee of that brand, but from experience, I am an endorser of it. A weak battery will cause static/scratches/drop outs. Call 800.516.2525(service line) or go to service@shure.com. Unless you are REALLY good at precise soldering, this is not a DIY project.Good Luck
