LG Flatron L194WT Monitor no power

My LG monitor stopped working today, there's no power. Tried a different lead so I am assumming the power supply has blown. Is this an easy problem to fix + cost effective. Where can I source a new unit power? I'm in the UK.

Thanks
Paul

Paul, Sometimes they can be fixed and other times they can't. Some can be DIY refurbished for less than $6 usd in the States. I would certainly do the YOUTUBE thing first. Check the capacitors for bulging of their aluminum tops, and the main fuse on the power supply board inside unit. Yes, you can find all sorts of DIY stuff on youtube. Do some reading in my fixya profile for more help with DIY stuff. After doing some research on fixya and web, let us fixya tech's know what your plans are??? I'm 12fixlouie just 30 min. north of Windy City. Bye for now.

It can be as simple $5 worth of caps in the power supply.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed LG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My L194WT -SF WONT WORK NO POWER USED SAME POWER LEAD ON DIFFERENT MONITOR NO PROBLEM

Hello Steve,

The most common problem with the L194WT monitors is a failure of the power supply board. There are parts called capacitors that fail and can cause the issue you have. Sometimes the power light will just flash, sometimes it takes several minutes to display a picture or even a wavy picture, all of these issues indicate a failing power supply board. These boards can be repaired if you can do a little soldering. The L194WT uses the same power board as the L196WTQ and we have a step by step repair guide with dis-assembly instructions available at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/lg-l196wtq-bf-lcd-monitor-repair/ Look over the guide and check your board to see if your capacitors have bulged and need to be replaced.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Hi, I turned my computer and monitor off as I normally do last night and when I came downstairs this morning to turn my computer and monitor on, my monitor didn't turn on. I pressed the power button on...

You need your monitor repaired or replaced.
Unlike a computer, there is not much troubleshooting beyond making sure it is plugged into a live outlet and turned on which you did already.
Good luck!

Good Day, I have an LG Flatron W2442PA. The screen keeps dimming, re-adjusting the brightness etc. Can you please tell me how to fix this?

Power capacitor problem or failing board in the monitor. Best solution is to get it checked out by a professional. I'm assuming you have already tried this monitor on another computer or laptop? If not, try that first, if it then works ok, check the DVI lead and the graphics card on the computer you are using it on

HOW TO CHECK A LG FLATRON L194WT-SF MONITOR FUSE, THE REAL PROBLEM IS HOW TO REMOVE THE BACK COVER

Here are the service manuals: http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=LG&megnev2=L194W&kategoria=monitor&kat2=all

After removing all the screws and the base, I use thin flat blade screw driver to crack open the case starting at the bottom egde and work your way around, just watch out for any cables attached to the front bezel. The monitor is not made to be easily open up.

Please read my guide so you will know what to look for inside the monitor.

LG FLATRON L1953T-SF 17" LCD Monitor Has no power? I checked the fuse, it's OK, tried different cords still no go? would it be the power supply itself?

Did you inspect the caps, any bulging one? Measure the power supply to see if you do have 5v and 12v on the power supply/inverter board.

Same problem with L194WT no power, no light

Your monitor have a bad condensatorin the PSU.

The only thing to do is to replace the Power Supply Unit (very expensive, more than a new monitor) or if you have electronic tools, found and replace that condensator.(cheaper way...)

Anyway, have you tried to replace your VGA card ? The problem could be there too !!

Best Regards!

I have a L194WT LG Flatron monitor. One day it

Same problem started happening two days ago and ever since. I called LG and the product falls under a 3yr product warranty according to them (from my original purchase date of January 20, 2007). They will send packing slips to me so I can send the defective unit back to LG. I was told I am eligible for a replacement monitor - which will be shipped to me within 10 to 14 days (consecutive days, not business) - although I'm not sure what I'm being sent in return. My suspicion is that this monitor issue is a known issue by LG and they are quietly replacing the unit to those who follow through by calling CS.

Tips: Have your original purchase date on hand (in the form of a receipt) just in case they want proof of purchase.

LG L194WT Monitor suddenly stop working

it is probably indicative of a switched mode powersupply trying to start then seeing a short and then trying to start again...this will cycle continuously until fault is rectified..any component that can drain the powersupply is the culprit...you need some way of detaching the powersupply from the load (monitor) to see if the power supply its self is the cause and also check if there is a loop back (a pulse) for continuous running.
