Question about Yamaha RX-V863 Receiver

1 Answer

I have yamaha v863 receiver and have been using it for the past 9 months, nowadays when playing a action movie or the sound modulation changes, the unit shuts down saying check speaker wires. I have checked all wires and they are connected properly and no disconnect.

Look in the manual for which version of HDMI. If it's 1.2a, they had a problem with the boards and were repairing them. Contact Yamaha @ 1-800-292-2982 Hope this helps

My reciever has no sound. everything else still works but it just won't put out any sound at all. yamaha RX-V863 7.1 channel. less than 6 months old.

Check your "A/B" speaker selector switch on the front panel of the receiver, if they are on, you will see "A" "B" or"AB" on the front display. If they are on, You need to have the receiver serviced. Just a note, Yamaha's rarely have an output problem! Hope this helps

Do you have all 5+1 speakers connected? You need to go to the Setup menu of yamaha and set which speakers you have and which you don't. For example if you don't have the Center speaker connected, receiver will redirect and mix the sound to the other speakers.
Blue-ray film over HDMI should automatically output via all your configured speakers (nothing to be configured).

I have yamaha v863 receiver. when i play movies on dvd. Any times

Check to make sure no wires are touching at the reciever. Next step is process of eleminaton. Unhook each speaker until it works or if you have a meter you could always check to see if you have a blown speaker or shorted wire. I would first disconnect all speakers and check to see if unit does it with no speakers connected.

No sound from subwoofer on tuner and cd listening

If you have video running thru the receiver to your TV it's alot easier to see the menu. when hooked up to a TV press the Menu/GUI button on the Yamaha remote, when you get the on screen display choose "manual setup" and navigate to "Speaker Settings" arrow up or down to "Subwoofer" options are "LFE" "Sub" or "Both" choose "Both" and "enter/select/or ok" Now, if it still is happening, it means somehoe you have set up a user preference on those two inputs to have no sub. You have to navigate thru the menu to inputs and audio and check your settings. If you need more help, it is in the manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download it at www.yamaha.com/usa click on Home audio products then type in RX-V863 in the search box on the left. You may have to register to use their site files, however, it's free and you won't get spammed by Yamaha nor will they sell your email address. anyway, your problem is in your setup menu. Take your time and don't get frustrated! you've got a killer receiver!! Hope this helps
