Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

HDD and USB problem. Usb ports stop to work. And when I try to set up new system (with format) before even come to the stage of formating disk, in the middle od loading files say "no disk found". When try to use recovery option from the booting choose - is checking the system (memory, HDD) and say to replace disk. But when using Disk regenerator and check oll sectors are fine. This is Laptop Compaq 6720s. Also tried to download some drivers - no change. Anyone know how: 1. get USB back to work 2. Format disk and set up new system (have to do it anyway). Thanks

For that first make sure SATA is disable in bios.
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALt+F2 then you can see bios then check SATA is disable then make sure your harddrive is recognized in bios.
Then boot computer with windows or recovery disk .
For that enter in bios with above key stoke then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dvd rom then save settings and exit.
Then it boot with that disk
Then follow the procedure on screen enter in recovery console then type in prompt "chkdsk /r" without "" then press ok.
Then it fix and recover error on harddrive.
Then again boot with disk this choose "Installing new windows option"
Then delete all partition and create again all partition then format 1 partition try this 5 to 6 timer then all error will gone then you can install windows .
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Sounds like you have a "dead" drive. You may be out of luck. Something may however be causing it to not work depending on the ways you may have formatted it such as if you intially used Linux to format it but these chances are slim.

External hard drive won't connect to computer

first of all you should try it on deferent pc , if its ok then thatleads us to insufficient power provided through usb ports , try usingback usb ports not the ON-front, and if the problem still try usingdual-usb cable like thishttp://www.cooldrives.com/usb-power-cable-mini-b.htmland if the external hdd doesn't work at all it might be the usb controller board inside the hdd cage needs to be changedif you cant find a similar one you may buy a new empty cage

Xo vision dvd player/receiver 1906 wont read my usb or SD disk.

Consult the manual, it should probably say something about external media.

Check what kind of disk format is supported by your player - some players will recognize an external usb disk (or a usb memory stick) only if it's formatted in FAT32 file system.

Note that if you format the disk on a Windows machine, it will only do it on drives with a relatively small capacity (i think it's up to 32 GigaBytes), but other operating systems (like MAC OS) can perform a FAT32 format even on drives with far greater capacity.

As for the SD disk (did you mean a SD memory card?), see what the manual says about the format type, have the card (disk) formatted in the supported format and see if that works, otherwise you might want to try other brands of SD cards - my friend has an Avia (not Aiwa) dvd player with a usb port and a SD card slot and it simply won't accept some brands or models of SD cards, but will work well with others and it also works well with USB disks and USB memory sticks formatted in FAT32 file system.

That's about all i could suggest, i hope you can get it to work.

External hdd not detected in my computer but is in device manager

You probably still need to partition it, before you can even format it.
Try the disk manager in Windows.

In the start menu, right-click "My Computer" and in the popup menu, select "Manage".
One computer management comes up, select disk management and there you should see the disk. You can then create a partition and format it.

External Toshiba 400GB HDD not recognized on my Dell CPx J650GT

New hard drives need to be formatted! So go into the control panel switch to classic view, ( if you are still using category view for the control panel ) open administrative tools, then open computer management. Next open disk management. In disk management your new drive will show as raw, you will be give the option of formatting the drive, select primary partition and format in NTFS.
This will then format the drive, when this has finished your new drive will appear in my computer.

How do i format my novatech B750

Just use a bootable CD and boot up with it, you'll come to a stage where you're asked to format your HDD.Or bootable flopy disk, when in command prompts you type format e: and press enter Or you could remove the HDD and use a external USB casing and use other PC to Quick format your HDD. Note:If you're trying to format your Laptop HDD, I will suggest that you get the all driver information for the hardwares before installing a new operating system. Because when new fresh installation is done you will be asked for the drivers for CD-rom, key board etc...
